Question from a 1 star level 50 gatherer about progressing beyond.

So, a long time ago I had got all 3 of my gatherers to level 50 and progression seemed great, that is until the absurd gathering requirements that could not be upgraded via new gear, but had to be upgraded by materia melding before you could move on to better gear. This was far too expensive to afford all that materia, so I stopped gathering.

However, when I heard news from Yoshi and team that they were adding an alternative method to allow gatherers to progress in a way similar to combat classes, I was happy as I could exchange the gathering version of tomes for gear instead of needing to meld a ton of materia.

But upon viewing a level 50-60 gathering guide, I saw that you can't even do this until mid-50s and can't even start progressing new stuff until level 51. So now I'm stumped. Is SE really still requiring gatherers to go through the same end game 2.X gatherers went thought to get into the new HW stuff? I can't upgrade my HQ iLv55 gatherer gear because I need higher stats to be able to gather the stuff that needs to be exchanged for the items. And if I can't gather 2 or 3 star stuff, then how can I level 50 to 51 unless of course I want to take a year to get to level 51 gathering basic stuff? Or is level 51 incorrect and there is something new I can gather at 50 that is worth decent experience, and that I can gather with the following stats:

    Gathering 329
    Perception 323

I'll go through what I did to get to 51 as a Botanist as it seemed to work for me:

    First my stats:
    Gathering 287
    Perception 248
    GP 512
(Note these are actually my level 51 stats, but none of my gear has changed so it shouldn't make too much of a difference)

The main thing to do is the Old World Fig collectable. It spawns at 2 am and 2 pm in Dravanian Forelands at around 27,13 (roughly). You don't NEED flying for this, but it will help you avoid the monsters. It's an unspoiled node so you'll need Truth of the Forests up. It's LISTED at a 3* item, but I was able to gather it without too many issues. Make sure you have the collector's glove on and then pop Toil of the Pioneer (might need a single hit first to reveal it) and then I used Discerning Eye followed by three Methodical Appraisals which should get the collectablity over 240.Then just hit collect as many times as you have gathers left. You might be able to get to 240 collectablity in less, if so, just collect more of them (don't bother with higher collectability). Each will turn in for roughly 60,000 xp at the Appraiser (in Mor Dhona) so getting 2-3 per node will get you a decent chunk of your level.

Other than that you can do leves from Foundation. Temple Leves are time efficient, but not leve effecient. ie more exp per turn in, but you chew through leves at a much higher rate for the exp you get than doing the normal ones would.

I can't speak much for 51, I'm still there myself. But I gathered Rainbow Boll without too many issues (NQ). I think the 3.0 patch notes mentioned that they lowered the requirements on 2 and 3 star gathering items at 50, but I'm not sure.

Hope that helps! Most of what I did I drew from the stuff in the ffxivguild's Botany leveling guide (though I modified it slightly since I didn't have the GP or stats they suggest)

    Good luck!

This helped a lot. Thank you! ^_^ That guide you reference is the same one I saw, but the stats is what made me think I couldn't.

Do leves and use the commercial survival guide, fc 10% exp gathering buff with gathering food for 3% exp boost ( all at the same time ). Use cordials when low on gp and be efficient. Got my AF poorly melded miner & botanist to 55/56 in 6hrs or so ( took some breaks ).

When u hit an odd level number i.e 53 you can spam triangle nodes with all the exp buffs and u'll level up in an hour ish from pure node gathering xp.
Most of the standard nodes do not require a gathering requirement so u can gather a level 55 node with vendor gear/ old 2.0 af gear.

If you take on the lvl 50 gatherer quest, you will get the survival manual that grants you 150 % bonus to gathering, and lasts for 20 min, or until 300k exp.
There are lvl 50 nodes right outside of Falcon's nest. So pop a survival manual, and start mining/harvesting from those lvl 50 nodes, and you'll be 51 in no time.
Other than that, do the collectables as mentioned above.
Along the way, you will also get gear from the lvl 53 quests, so if you do MIN, BTN and FSH at the same time, you'll get 3 pieces of gear in addition to new tools.
For MIN, you also have the Yellow copper ore collectable, iirk, they spawn alongside the bridge around 8 PM/AM (can't check atm).

Thanks again guys. I was shocked at how fast I was progressing from 50 to 51. It literally took me less than 20 mins to get 1 levequest away from 51 which is where I'm at as I'm typing this. One of the leves gave me almost half of the entire level worth of exp, or maybe I had completed another goal along side it that boosted it. I've stopped temporarily until I get replies in my other thread I posted about how to keep supply of Commercial Survival Manuals as I wasn't sure where you get them.

Definitely save them. No one yet knows if we'll get more, they may only be given to us as a gap-filler to get to 51 or 52, and may never show up again. who know. I saved mine, used the GC ones i had, and did levelquests to 51. from that point you really don't need to do levelquests unless you really want to level your farming as fast as you can. honestly, i have just been doing the lvl 51 collectibles, getting 4 per node, and turning in, and doing them when i remember as I level my warrior. and my miner is actually higher then my warrior is atm. Goes to show you how easy it is to level via collectibles.

hit lvl 55 and purchase the lvl 55 NQ gear from teh NPC in churining mists, and you'll have plenty of perception/gathering to get to 60.

Those Commercial Survival Guides are 50 Blue Gatherer Scrip each. You get nine freebies, three each for the level 50 Heavensward quests for Miner, Botanist, and Fisher.
