Removed from the free company I started.

    Dear Square Enix,

I poured my money, my sweat, my tears, my frustration, my love, my anger, and all of my sorrow into making a free company and getting it to the point where I could use to guild actions to not only buff my character, but also purchase land to make a house. This was before individual housing was available. Anyway, I did this mostly by myself with a sparse amount of help. I decided to take a break from playing the game so I could beat some of the newer games I got. Now upon my return I see that not only am I not the leader of the free company I founded, I am not even a member. This is unacceptable. This needs to be fixed and I want to be apart of my free company again. There is no one in the company able to add me back in that still plays. There might not be anyone who still plays that in my company that still plays. So you're telling me that I am going to lose all my money and effort because of a stupid thing you put in a patch.

P.S. I read the patch notes and it says I should only be demoted to member not completely kicked out of the guild so you guys are wrong on two fronts. You're on a real freaking hot streak now. I have been a member since a realm reborn came out and I was a member during the period where I was not playing. So there is not reason why I should lose my free company. But you know, all this would be acceptable if you had enough freaking room for me to purchase land to buy an individual freaking house! I could take solace in the fact that at least all my work didn't go to waste, but I'm playing the game right now and lo and behold there is no empty plots of land on which to build a house.

This would be ok if this were a free to play game, but as a pay to play game you need to get on the ball. Yes I know there are thousands of plots of land available on all the servers. But that's just it. If I want to be able to buy a plot of land I will have to take a chance to go on another server. And if there is no housing there another server. Don't forget switching servers isn't free. For every world change I have to pay actual freaking money in order to switch! This is ridiculous. This is how you treat your loyal customers. Un-freaking-forgivable. We get charged for so much of this game yet you kick sand in our face on basic stuff.

I recently had this happen in the Free Company that myself and my friend are in. While I'm now the leader, it was originally started by my friend. There was a time back pre-2.5 that he stopped playing because he took on a temporary job that required a LOT of time from him, and after 30 or 60 days (I was logging in every day) I noticed that I had been made the FC Leader while my friend was moved to a lower position in the guild. While this is good in our situation since we know each other IRL and it allows me to access the FC vault and keep things tidy and relevant, it was also a sigh of relief that no one else was in the FC besides our circle of friends.

In terms of this problem, this is what I suggest, because there's a VERY good chance there's nothing of monetary worth left in your Free Company Vault. If you do have a friend in the Free Company who is currently active and has a position of power (which I'm not sure is required for the change to take effect), have them remove anything of value from the vault that they can and hold on to it until the potential shift in power occurs. If the new FC leader who was appointed in power is still active, you could try sending him messages to add you back and give you back your place in the FC, you could also try to notify the GMs in-game, but I'm at a loss in terms of what they would be able to do in this situation.

If it's unrealistic that you can ever get back into your FC, at least take comfort in the fact that you didn't purchase a house (I really hope you didn't needlessly deposit gil in the vault either since it sounds like you were pretty much the only one doing work). I would suggest that you either seize this opportunity and join a really active FC that you can rise through the ranks in or start over with a group that's actually active and cares about contributing towards the FC. Trust me when I say it's much easier to rank up an FC in a group than it is alone.

    EDIT:

Just to let you know, you can edit your post to bypass the character limit. On that note, the process DOES only change you to member, but it's a very high probability that you were kicked by the "new" Free Company leader since they would have been the ones with the "keys to the kingdom" so to speak.

That's not the problem. Raising enough money to buy a house was the main reason I was playing this game. It was my main goal. Now that I know that it is a pointless goal, I have lost my main reason for playing the game. Which sucks because I just bought Heavensward.

So let me get this straight. You left the game for X amount of time and when you came back you saw that you no longer had an fc. Welp, in accordance with the patch from a long while back it had something along the lines of FC leaders being gone for a given amount of time would simply be removed from their title of leader and placed to a lower rank. That being said, to come back to no FC can only mean one thing, whomever was placed in charge after your prolonged absence deemed it fitting to remove you completely. So don't be mad at SE for this, be mad at: A) Yourself for being gone for so long, allowing the situation to even have a chance of occuring. B) Your "former" FC because they were the ones that kicked you. The only thing in this whole situation you really have a right to be upset at SE about is the lack of housing.

Now, before you jump down my throat saying things like, "Well, SE should have never demoted me in the first place for something I made!", lemme ask this. What about the people who make FCs, buy a house, and all members become inactive (including the leader)? Should SE just leave the fc, along with the house, remaining as is, taking a plot in one of the housing districts until the game dies out, making it impossible for any active people to enjoy the plot just because the leader MIGHT return at some unforeseen time in the distant or not-so-distant future?

Also on top of this, You should have promoted a friend to officer who would have NOT kicked you, our FC master left the game for a while, it promotes the officer who is online for the longest amount of time to master. You need to rethink who you trust lol

I likely won't see your replies to my posts so if it's important, /tell Lem Ayase@Kujata .

I just had the same issue with my FC. My boyfriend and I started the FC with a group of friends. Most of them play WoW, and ended up quitting FFXIV. I had to take a month off because I couldn't afford my subscription fee, and I returned to find that some stranger we had invited a long time ago now own my FC. I understand the desire to want to keep FCs active so there aren't inactive groups taking up plots of land and whatnot, but 35 days is WAY too short. I literally just couldn't afford the $12 that month. Sometimes life happens. So to have all of my hard work handed to someone else is really frustrating.

Inactive players will be losing their housing entirely come 3.1 and going forward. It's not fair to companies to have an inactive leader. You should have given the role to someone you trusted and asked to be kept in a special rank until you returned.

You were ousted by your own members, who requested to have you removed from your role as leader for being gone for to long in their eyes. The GM granted it. This system to forfeit land from inactive players wont go live till 3.1. If there's no one that can add you, you can have someone in the FC ask a GM to promote them, and then they can invite you.

I for one am glad SE is doing this. Inactive players, who are gone for multi months, do not need to hold onto a limited thing like housing land. It's unfair to everyone that still actively plays.
