Drop rates for materials seem pretty abysmal

I keep farming Yak Milk and the only way to get them is from the level 51 Wooly Yak but it seems that they are incredibly rare as in 3 milk in 10 minutes rare.

Are people experiencing this with their monster material farming?

Is it about time SE puts Treasure Hunter feature in? Because the amount of materials needed for these recipes is quite abundant and the time spent farming this is grossly disproportionate in terms of simple item collection.

If you have a retainer on battle class, have them farm for you !

It all depends how fast you can kill them and how camped the area is. One of the MSQ side quests require you to kill them so lot's of people may show up from time to time.

With flight, i180 Paladin, Sword Oath, Strength Accessories, and a Rank 20 Chocobo in Attacker Stance I got the 66 Yak Milk I needed in less than an hour. Considering each of them are worth 4-6k on my server that's a lot of easy gil. Dhalmel Hides were roughly the same; I needed 183 of them and finished in under two hours.

Drops rates were fairly bad for most things in the beginning of 2.0 as well. However, I'm noticing that items like SKINS are dropping at rates similar to 2.0 hippogryph skin, despite the fact that you need skin to level your profession. The drop rate should be closer to 2.0 aldgoat or toadskin droprates. This problem is compounded by tradecraft recipes requiring THREE skins for one leather, as opposed to ONE skin in 2.0.

Compared to weaving and metalworking professions, leatherworker is turning out to be a real pain to level. Almost all of my skin is coming from retainer ventures, and that just isn't right.

Yea drop rates are pretty low, tried farming crawler cocoons also which have low drop rate also. They can take items from unspoiled nodes and add them to vendors but leave the drop of items off mobs in the crapper.

66 for a little under an hour is a terrible return on Yak Milk when you see how many you need for how ever many recipes they take. Sour Cream, the first post level 50 recipe takes 3 ; ; but most of the most important recipes seem to use them in some form.

I am glad people are noticing similar results, I really enjoy the suggestion for an item that we could use as a temporary self buff. All the Likes.

Yup Retainer is the way to go. You will get a bunch in a few hrs while you can go do something else instead of farming items.
