I haven't been able to find Yoshi's exact statement, but nowhere do I recall him saying that DoH/L would be excluded. If someone can find that that quote, I would much appreciate it.

What I do recall, is that DoH/L would be taking a backseat when it comes to the main storyline. On this, that is understandable, and I agree.

The materia point that someone made is moot to me as well. All disciplines are reliant on each other for materia, so nothing about it is exclusive to one discipline.

Would I would like to know, on top of my previously asked questions, if DoH/L are indeed excluded from the Grand Companies, what sort of activity will be exclusively theirs? Chocobo raising perhaps? I'm curious as to what the future of these classes are. I may not be only playing DoH/L, but the content of these classes does interest me greatly.

As for any negativity in this thread, it's really very tame, and honestly there has been more negativity from some of the opponents to the thread than the advocates. Some people are raising a concern about a long awaited feature. The only right or wrong about it is whether Yoshi-P decides to develop further content for these disciplines or not; information that is a valid concern for anyone who enjoys crafting or gathering, whether they are exclusive to it or not.
I look forward to more DoH/L content. Any content that can get me more interested in crafting, and especially gathering - being that I simply cannot stand it as it currently is - would be most welcome.

The point in this matter is Grand Companies, just like the main storyline content, are designed for battle classes. The quests, storyline and content being prepared for Grand Companies are centered around battle. For this reason, at least at this point in time, it make great sense for GCs to allow access only to adventurers proficient in battle.

Should there be more content for DoH/L? Definitely.

Should a player who only crafts and gathers and does not bother with battle classes have access to everything that players proficient in battle do? Absolutely not.
