    The Devs have specifically stated that the future of Chocobos includes training them to fight next to you. So, it's not just transportation. Not in the slightest.

    Seems like a good reason to give them to crafters and gatherers. Imagine setting your Chocobo to "Defend" while you chop down a tree...
