Wanted to say something to this effect, you beat me to it.
It's called integrity. Just because you can be an asshole and get away with it, doesn't mean you need to. Just because SE set up the game to breed elitist snob bitch behavior doesn't mean people need to be so.
Do I bash elitists? damn right I do. Elitist is a mentality, it's also entirely unneeded. It doesn't mean you're better, more skilled, whatever. Or because you're better it doesn't mean you're an elitist. This is a video game. Unless you're playing professionally and making money doing it, y'all need to lighten the fuck up, because it's simply not that important otherwise. And if it is that important to your life that you be awesome at an MMO, then you need to do some serious life prioritization.
I can play, I can usually play fairly well. But fun is more important to me than who did what and how great so and so did. Soon as people start their pixelated ego-tripping because of their possession of tiny penises in life, thats when the fun goes bye bye. It's that way for a lot of folks too. Care to take a guess when your bullshit self-importance drains all fun from the game and starts driving people away from it?
No extra points for terrible analogies. So you walk up to a bulletin board on campus or work, with a bunch of random notices, you see a bunch of phone numbers advertising jobs positions, services, up-coming events. You see an ad that says "LOOKING FOR COMPETENT HARD WORKING WORKERS to FILL A TEMPORARY JOB FOR THE HOLIDAYS"
Thats not toxic.....
This is a video game.
NOT a job.

Why is it a terrible analogy? She makes her point very clear with it. Just because there're people who want competent players who have done the fight to farm with, that doesn't make them an elitist. That's what practice groups are for, which you yourself can make. :lWanted to say something to this effect, you beat me to it.

Also for someone telling other to lighten up, you seem pretty miffed simply because people want fellow competent players who know and have completed the fight to farm with. Sheesh, relax. Like you said, it's just a game. Honestly, almost your entire post is just a big immature rant about supposed 'elitists'.
Make a practice group if you don't really know the fight well enough. That's what they're for.
Oversimplified conclusion. You are attempting to justify "its just a video game" arguement. You know for "just a video game" OP is taking recruitment restrictions where players have 100% choice on whether to join or not to join, way too seriously. My "analogy" as you call it is an attempt to bring us back to common sense observed in the real world. Do not take these "ads" so seriously that you feel you need to rant about it. These ad's are not solely aimed and directed at you just because you read it.
There is far more to this topic than "its a video game" as such an argument can benefit both sides of the OP's topic. Therefore its generally a very weak tool to use as an argument. So let us go back to common sense.
I noticed you left out the other half of my post where i give examples on what online gaming toxicity is.
Of course though i'm speaking on behalf of an FC m8 as i've declared.
You know what i do? i have prot set to slot 1 going into the dungeon, cast it, then set cleric stance to slot 1 for the rest of the dungeon or until prot is nearing the end of its duration.
Anyways, you missed the toxicity point, they got kicked from the party, which is vote kick abuse under the declared circumstances. One of the most common forms of toxicity in this game and in any game in general.
