Hear hear! I work 5-7 hours each day, even Sundays. I also work out six days a week, I'm married and I have a reasonably active social life. I'm in full i179 on DRK and will have WHM fully geared and feared in about a week. I'd never join a hardcore raiding guild because I don't like those kind of extra obligations or commitments to an already regimented schedule. Still, I have every intent to play and see all the content and it certainly doesn't take me long to get to that point.

    +1 to you!

I have a fulltime job and a busy life(mostly kept busy by the family), yet I'm leveling a second battle class to 60 already. I'm also in a raid group. I do it by sticking to a (raid) schedule. If I couldn't fit in time to relax and do something I like then I'd go crazy!

My raid leader is a pharmacist who works even more hours than I do. My raid groups bard is a father of two with a full time job. My raid groups BLM is a loving husband with a full time job. All of them have level 60s already.

This "basement dweller no-lifer" stereotype is old. Not sure why it's still a thing.

I know you're probably being a bit tongue-in-cheek, but this kind of attitude is more toxic than what the OP is describing and is a big problem within the gaming community as a whole.
I am also bothered by that comment. I am disabled and live with my parents. I can't ever work or live on my own, so I spend my time playing this game. Comments like that have always bothered me because I feel like it's wrong for me to have a disability and spend my time playing this game.

Honestly that's what the PF is there for. It can accommodate different people/play styles, if people want to farm, let them. If you want to learn then nothing is stopping you from creating your own. Every one has the ability and rights to create any type of PF they want and accept any player they see fit.

The thing about Party Finder is, you have the complete rights when you start a party finder to put whatever conditions or expectations you want out there. If I were to start up a 7 man minimum iLvl Titan EX, well, you certainly don't have to join that; and I doubt you'd walk in and start insisting I make it just a regular Titan EX clear. Hell, you'd recognise that'd be pretty rude to do. You wouldn't join a Dzemael first room farm and ask them to run the full thing instead. etc etc

I get the frustration with "but there's no learning parties" or "all the active parties aren't welcoming", but whether you think it's elitist or not, people can set whatever conditions they like when using Party Finder - player skill, gearing, attitudes, etc all fall under that. If you don't like their terms, you are just as capable start your own group with your own terms.

...lol at this issue. As if it was anything new or recent or even surprising. Pretty much since the game launched, this is basically all I've seen in PFs on multiple servers. "Screw up and we hunt down your entire family" - that's the attitude everywhere with everything. Nobody's giving you a chance to actually learn, but then if you're bad, you're the worst scum of the earth and how dare you even exist. /thumbsup

And just like someone who has no clear of a certain duty joins what's specifically advertised as a farming party, pretty much every time, the same way do veterans with dozens of kills under their belt join a learning party - even if it's with the intention to teach, they're gonna be jerks about it more often than not. Thing is though: someone doesn't have the achievement or the weapon - does that tell you they actually can't do the fight? How do you know they haven't been in 50 different groups, getting to just a few % of winning, but ending up wiping several times? How do you know it was their fault?

The irony is a lot of people who set up those parties with their restrictions and demands are made by people who end up being carried by the rest of the group and kick up a storm if they are the ones falling behind in DPS or dying when someone mentions they should get kicked according to their own PF rules. Personally I think they should of just added EX modes to DF, despite the negative connotations people have with DF the reality is I have had almost as much success with DF groups as I have with PF ones.

Exactly why I stick to static/FC and don't bother with PF. Content sellers have a hand in the blame of this also. Carrying players through content who cleared with no idea what to do because they died at the start to prevent wipes. Then go on to make farming parties to not pay for more carries.

If they actually made an effort and learnt the fights instead of paying for carries then they wouldn't need to pay ever again and the quality of players would improve.

Content sellers are the cause of what is bad is FFXIV, promoting bad play, why learn when you can pay someone to carry plus promoting buying Gil. Anyone who disagrees with that are in denial. As I have been partied with players who paid for content that had zero clue, and I know content sellers that told me they had to wait for the buyer to recieve their bought gil to pay for the clear.
