So failure primarily comes from people ignorant of their use of the system, but again, there is nothing within the game to tell someone how to use said system. So obviously it has to come from word of mouth from the playerbase.

And maybe there has been an extreme shift in behavior since my time from playing XI, but back during those years a large portion of the JP playerbase weren't ones to actively involve themselves with western players.

So I have to wonder how well this information comes to any westerner playing on their side, let alone onto our server sides. So I suppose that's what bothers me the most. That they've given a bad name purely because nobody told them otherwise from an earlier point, and then proceed to misjudge accordingly.

But as you say, it's a system that works. They've better adapted to playing with whatever comp is given, and that's good. But I have to wonder if that's just the nature of the JP player. That's getting into something entirely different though.

Well I think the bias is still there. But it's like any stereotype. They are usually based on some truth. NA has built a rep for selfishness and lack of responsibility. So this makes some jp anti en. This isn't because they hate en or NA. Its just they expect the worse. This is less of an issue in ffxiv however. Since community rep is greatly reduced on this game compared to ffxi. Also this game is vastly more popluar.

I stay away from endgame content for this particular reason. The sad thing is it makes me miss out on some story. The good thing is that there's still a lot to enjoy in the game and as content becomes older it's easier to do. Because the elitists move on to the new stuff and the people who play for fun get grouped up more. It still sucks you got to wait and I agree with the OP that some players in 14 are jerks but you can't fix it.

I personally don't make these groups... I mostly keep yo my group of friends (best advice ever).

But... go to 24 man content and watch as 80% of the DPS fail to out damage a tank.

Then go do an expert and watch a healer stay in cleric stance while everyone else dies.

Take a trip through the MSQ where a tank in 120+ in tank stance loses aggro to an i90 black mage.

This could have something to do with everyone's attitude towards everyone else.

Or they just don't care and are looking for the next carry.

Yah, but, seeing as how no one can read minds in this game and I've yet to see SS conversation with these people I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and just assume they're tired of dealing with idiots and use extreme methods in hopes of improving their chances of winning to the best of possibilities.

I don't deny some of them just might be jerks, theres a lot of jerks in this world we call earth, there will always and forever be jerks and no amount of rules preventing or slowing people from being jerks will be effective in preventing you from encountering jerks... otherwise Jails would serve no purpose... Jerks/A**holes exist, nothing will change this, you can maybe slow it but not by much and it will never be enough. You just need to learn to accept it as an inevitability, if you do things with a large amount of people, chances are one of them will be a "jerk" or simply have different ideals than you and that doesn't make them wrong or a jerk sometimes, just that they do things differently..

Even cultures people seem to hold up to high claims like Japanese culture and people still have people within that culture who are largely racist to the point of xenophobic, and will exclude people for not being born where they were, not because of language or such, but simply because they're not japanese. No person or culture is exempt from having jerks... let alone they all have their own vices and downfalls.

Hunting has only really been 'necessary' again pretty recently. You COULD get bloody mark logs from hunting or you could just run the raids or you could do the CT weekly. Plus hunting basically required you to be in an LS to get to hunts on time, so between a high barrier to entry, incredibly blaise game play, and pretty meh rewards that could be acquired in other, less terrible, ways a lot of people didn't bother.

Right now it's only hunting to upgrade gear, and new content/gear is coming out very swiftly putting an impetuous on people to gear up the current best ASAP rather than wait for the trickle through daily/weeklies, so a lot more people are doing than have been for awhile. Which exacerbates all the issues with it, and multiplies them by not being able to select an instance when entering The Churning Mists. Missed like 3 hunts myself just for that so far and I almost never hunt 'cause I hate it.

I really do not understand the problem here. People always complain about other players who do this and it boggles my mind. Everyone has fun in their own way. That is the key sentiment here.

Some people are not interested in constantly helping new people and want to play with others who have experienced the fight and are knowledgeable about it so that they can clear and progress. Those people make party finders like that asking for people who know what hey are doing so that they don't have to sit there and teach yet another knew person what they already know. It is beyond frustrating to see the same person making the same mistake causing the entire party to wipe time and time again. Simply put, that person needs to find a learning party so that they can figure out what they are doing wrong and fix it before causing 7 other people to lose progress because of their inexperience.

Then there are people who are new to the fight and need to learn and gain experience, for those people, MAKE A NEW PARTY FINDER. I have done this time and time again and I am always able to find other people who are new and need to create a learning party so that we can figure this fight out. I rarely even watch videos. I think the concept of watching a video of a fight before even trying it yourself is stupid. I want to experience the fight for the first time myself rather than watch other people who have already done it. I have never had issue finding other people to make a party with and learn a new fight.

The entitlement some people have is overwhelming. It feels like the sentiment I see from a lot of people is that they want the experienced players to cater to the inexperienced and force them into a learning party when those players have already been in a learning party and now want to clear the fight.

Some players will want to form clear parties and some players want learning parties. Find other people at the same level of experience as you and leave the others to their own. Not everything is going to be tailored to your interests. There are more people out there than just you.
