How's the lag for an EU playing on NA?

I have a good connection, (50/10 mbit), and a good enough latency (~28ms I believe) in europe, although I played on NA server when ARR came out.

Now, I have some friends on Goblin (NA server) while I'm on Shiva (EU server). Lag in game it's fine, I don't care outside of dungeons, I do care inside.

How's the lag if I migrate to a NA server? It would be really interesting if I can migrate to Goblin and be able to play, I have a good guild waiting for me there.

The "EU" server is hosted at the same location as the NA server so the ping you have on Shiva is the same as on Goblin. I'm a European playing on Goblin and I can get my ping down to 100 ms and my guess is that yours is about the same.

Doesn't matter if na or eu all eu or na Servers are located in Canada so the distance induced lag should be the same.

You can open the PerfMon (Performance Monitor) in Windows Task Manager in the Performances tab (in Windows 8.1)

From there, check the internet connection tab, look at TCP connections or processes with internet activities.

You'll see some FFXIV.exe process with a 199.81.189.xx address or something

Now press the Windows key + R
Type " cmd " without quotes or spaces
In the Command Prompt, type : ping -t 199.81.189.xx address you noted down above

Press CTRL + C to stop the pinging. You will see some crappy 140-150 ms latency as a European player (maybe even worse if you live in Eastern Europe I guess, I'm in France).

The usual latency for some EUW League games would be 35 ms in comparison lol

And it IS noticeable, cause you can't queue 2 off global cooldowns in a row without clipping on the next GCD skill... ><

This was valid when I was playing, but I've heared they created servers in Europe for EU servers. I wonder how to discover if this is true or not.

Yeah I can check ping but I wanted a more real-world experience instead of something based purely on numbers: FF is a "slow paced" game (2.5 seconds gcd, 2.5 cast time for most spells) so 200ms shouldn't be a problem at all, but I'm concerned a bit more for "red zones"
