Astrologian does not need a buff because you had a single bad experience with some dumb party leader.

dont let them get you down! play astro to your hearts content, people are just still stuck in "new is bad, me no likey, fire scary" mode
i like seeing asts around they compliment other healing classes and eachother nicely
My god people suck, give em a new toy to play with and if it's not instantly OP they'll throw it out of their pram like a rattle.
Screw the haters, you don't want to be playing with dimwits like that anyway.
Good for you that you don't have to put up with him. Have the time go find other parties and do swift clears. I used to put up with someone's rant the entire dungeon and it was even worse.
Its just typcial DF BS, DF has been the downfall of the game.So yeah, tonight I joined a Bismarck Ex Clear Group, most didn't have it cleared, and I knew the fight in and out. Anyways, leader warned me before I joined that if heals weren't pretty good he'd have to replace me. I thought, well, that's okay, it's common sense to replace whoever's doing bad.
Come the fight, we wipe a few times, none of which were mine or the WHM's fault. The Leader proceeded to tell me that he'd have to replace me, that I was doing pretty good, but they need consistency and that they'd trust more a Scholar, thus kicked me and blocked Astrologians' spots in his PF.
I really like the job, find it way too fun (along with Mch .-.), but I don't want to keep on being kicked from raids or battles because I'm an Ast. I think, however, they do need some buffs, or a rehaul on their card system, but they're not THAT bad.
Just venting
You would not be able to use story dungeons if there was no DF.
Without story dungeons this game would be at best half as interesting, and most likely long dead.
DF is not a problem, you just have to go in DF with a thick skin, since the chance you will meet an idiot is there. Though compared to other Online games that "force" you to play with randoms (MOBAs anyone?!) this one has an EXTREMELY nice community. I have done pretty much every single story dungeon from lvl 15 to lvl 55 in PLAIN DF, and only met like a handfull of idiots. The majority is either nice or silent.
Also OP is complaining about a PF group...
To be honest, I'm kind of disappointed in how AST was handled considering they were supposed to "fluidly replace either healer" and "compatible in any party".
The stat bonuses they provide in parties. AST and SCH both give PIE even if AST is in "WHM Stance". I've already seen the fighting between AST and SCH for spots in Alexander raids starting, considering no one wants to lose WHM's +MND buff (it's about a 26 mind difference which is pretty noticeable on a healer), that just leaves SCH and AST fighting for the second healer spot.
And the lower potency is pretty much what people consider the nail in the coffin. People assume lower potency = weaker heals = more damage = dead party. I heard that AST's shields don't double when they crit like a SCH's (I don't know if it's true). But if it is, then that has basically made every AST undesirable (especially for progression) if they can't provide the same mitigation as SCH on top of sharing SCH's PIE buff. Weaker shields break faster, which results in more damage, which means more healing, and I don't think offering the other healer Ewer Cards is really gonna make up for that, lol.
"Fluid" and "compatible", but not really.
Like I said - I think they're slightly underpowered, but perfectly able to do any content.
Their lower heal potency is made up by lower mana cost and sometimes amazing mobility.
Their lower DPS potency is, I think, suppose to be made up by their cards. Sadly... their cards are plagued by RNG and don't always help.

I know the math is pretty close if you work it all out, but people don't see "pretty close" they see "not as powerful".
The way the buffs are now, because of the heavy RNG and the fact that most of the time the cards can only be used on one person, Selene's buffs are far more reliable for increasing DPS.
