Kicked from groups as Astrologian

I have no problems with healing in Bismack EX, but I've seen some PF groups do block AST slot & only let WHM, SCH in on my server. I think they want to rely on SCH help to pass the DPS check more than worrying about AST healing.

^This. And the fact that people see 1 bad apple and assume the whole class is bad. I've seen plenty bad tanks of all kinds, do I assume that all tanks blow? Do I assume that all dragoons are LOLDRG's?

Anyway, just blacklist him/ignore him, he missed out on a good healer. (BTW, A Class doesn't make a good healer, it is the player 100% of the time, so swapping a good AST for a Lesser SCH for 'class purposes' is the probably the stupidest thing I've heard all day.)

Reminds me of when SCH was new, and there were groups that refused to take it, because they compared it directly to WHM despite they were supposed to be played differently. There are a lot of people who haven't played the new jobs yet, and they don't know how they work.

To me it sounds more like something was wrong, and they were blaming it on the AST because it was the easiest, maybe they were messing up themselves and just didnt want to admit to it.

It could also be something to do with the fact that people are biased against Astrolgian due to the fact that a lot of players who picked it up didn't really take the time to learn the mechanics of it properly, and just try to treat it as a watered down WHM 90% of the time. I know that for any parties pre-Sohm Al, it was very rare for me to see an AST who could heal worth anything in the DF, and since that point, I've seen very few in the DF at all. This indicates that, (for the most part), only the people who learned to play it right stuck with it past that point, but some people are still unreasonably biased against it from early experiences with the class, and as such will simply pin the blame on it due to the fact that the majority of players view it as "it's never my fault, someone else must be to blame".......

I for one welcome AST in my party though if they know what their doing. One of the leaders of my FC is an experienced healer with both WHM and SCH, and took to AST as well as soon as it came out. She can easily match any other healer I've seen when playing as it, so in truth there is no reason in the least that people should be biased against the class. Like all of them, you have good players and bad players, but because there were so many bad AST at first, a lot of the more Elitist players out there decided that the class was bad and that anyone who plays it is to blame for any problems during a run.....

In your case OP, it's pretty clear that it was just a bad group and a particularly bad and ignorant leader to it. Stick with the class you enjoy, regardless of the negativity some players have. Those same players are probably also the ones who would blame you for a wipe if you were having to solo heal Ravana because the other healer got knocked off the ledge......

If you were even a half-way decent Astrologian, you would have read it in the cards that you would be kicked, and could have avoided the group entirely.

It's pretty lame to discriminate one job seriously. I didn't tried AST but I had AST when duty WoD in my party, B Alliance (I'm SCH) and we both do fine on healing and stuff.

Speaking both as a new Astrologian and as someone who's partied up with plenty of them, that guy had no idea what he was talking about. For a start, the main tools available to White Mage are available to Astrologian in some form. They have their basic cure, their enhanced cure and even regens and a Tetragrammation-type skill. The potency of these spells is only very slightly less than White Mage, which should never make the difference between life and death, and that balances out the extra bonuses they add to the party.

In short, if someone kicks you simply because you're AST, they have no idea what they're talking about.
