Understanding the progression of the game...

Hi all,

I just want to know if my understanding of the progression of the game is right...

1- right now, i am at level 43. I have buy heavensward, even if new content is not available for me, because when i reach level 50, i can still level up even if i am not in the heavensward main quest section ( since i will not have finished 2.55). Am i right?

2- before accesing heavensward content, i need to finish all the main quests from umbral and from astral. Only when the quest before the dawn will be finish that i will have acess to heavensward content... ?

I believe you are level capped at 50 unless you purchase Heavensward.

Yes, you need to complete all main story content to progress to the expansion content.

But since i have purchased havensward. Will i be able to level up over 50 even if i am not in havensward quest

Yes, you do get xp for quests and mob kills at level 50 once you've purchased Heavensward.

So simply put, just follow the main quest until it leads you into Ishgard.
Just as a warning to avoid confusion: Monsters in lvl 50 dungeons (you'll have to do some of those to progress in the story) do not give XP, for whatever reason...

This is why I'm holding off on registering HW. I've already bought it (since I wanted the pre-order bonuses and know I'll want the expansion itself eventually), but I'm not going to register it until I'm ready to head to Ishgard. That way I can stay on-level with the content I'm doing and then head into HW as a level 50 as intended.

I wish they'd added a level-cap unlock quest (ideally on a per-class basis) so we wouldn't have to rely on not having the expansion registered as being the only way we could stay at 50 long enough to do the 50 content.

Register it now. There's no penalty for being overlevelled - you'll be level synced for old content, and there's a lot of experience to get to get to 60.
