whats the point of having categories in PF if lots of people are going to mis-list?

Whenever the topic comes up a lot of people say it’s fine and there is no problem with people mis-listing stuff under duty roulettes to get to the top of PF, if that is really how the majority really feel why not simply remove the categories all together so everyone’s PF has an equal chance at getting seen?

Someone’s dungeon run or trial farm has an equal chance of being seen as someone’s static listing or content selling always getting bumped to the top first.

I use categories when looking for parties all the time. They serve their purpose.

The only ones that really get potentially screwed are roulette PF's, since that's what most people trying to jump to the top of the list use for ads not covered by the available topics (e.g., static recruitment, FC's, selling content).

The solution is probably to make a classifieds category for stuff that isn't actually content. That way most of the tabs should only include what's on the tin.

I'd rather have some poorly sorted party finder content than a completely jumbled mess.

And whenever this topic comes up, I feel that people present it as more of a problem than it really is... I do see those miss-listed parties aswell when I open the PF, so its not like I'm not aware of that happening! But at the same time I also only see them on the front page, which I dont check to look for parties. I jump straight to the "difficult content" to look for my ex-primal-parties - and sure, there is the odd miss-listening there aswell, sometimes intentional, sometimes by mistaken. But most of those parties are actually for the content they advertise - and if the describtion tells me they arent, I simply dont join them. Just how I dont join a party that asks for a healer or has some sort of describtion that I consider repulsive (the whole "no noobs, one fail and blacklist, clear for a friend... that stuff).

Seeing miss-listings from time to time doesnt make the PF unusable.
Not being able to filter for the content you want would achieve that. In the evening there are usually 50-80 PFs for various contents up on my world. Would you want to sit through all of those to find something you're looking for? Because I dont.
OP is arguing about giving every PF the same chance to be seen, but thats the wrong idea. This should be more orientated towards the one whos looking for a PF, not the one whos creating one. And the one whos looking for a party to join is most likely for a party for specific content and would therefor prefer to being able to filter everything else out. And yes, that doesnt work 100% right now, because you still get static-PFs when looking for your Savage-parties. But also showing this person khloe-parties for old ex-primals isnt a solution.

Isn't there actually an "others" category or misc or something along those line. Sure people use to use it for getting meld or people to help in the workshops.

At least people are considerate enough to use the Roulette PF tab. It's the least necessary one of all them. You really, really don't need a PF for roulettes.

Yeah, there is - I opended it right now and currently there are 3 listings on the Light-DC, all looking for static members (so much for people always miss listing those, huh?) but I also see PFs with questions (answered one yesterday), people offering crafting services, FC recruitments... everything that would fall under "Other".

Maybe if they just gave that category priority listing when opening the PF people would stay away from using roulettes for static recrutments? As of right now its hidden all the way in the back. Or maybe we just need a tab for static-recrutments, so people could filter for that aswell if they want.

They use whichever is the first tab, if that was ex trials we would have the spam there.

Its tiring to see "but hey contact me on discord, for some reason we cant tell you this costs $/€ and we play your char " ...

In XI evidence was piled up for months and hundreds of ppl got banned ... tho it feels xiv just doesnt care.

Just scroll past the ones that aren't relevant to your needs at the time.

The point of having categories is because the vast majority of people use it correctly, both when recruiting and searching.

Maybe if they just gave that category priority listing when opening the PF people would stay away from using roulettes for static recrutments? As of right now its hidden all the way in the back. The people advertising their statics or "other services" will always use what is top of the list. If they put "others" at the top of the list, do we think the complaints would actually go away? Everyone has a different opinion of what should be the priority category and ultimately people will still whinge regardless.
