Silver Chocobo Feathers--What to spend them on?

I have ten feathers from the RAF program.

I see that I can buy a nice i110 weapon and some gear for level 50. Is there any point to buying these things, or will they be replaced so fast as I go through the story content at level 50 that it would be a waste?

Will I ever earn more of the silver feathers somehow, or only the gold ones?

Is there anything anywhere else to spend the silver feathers on, or just what I see now for level 50 and under at the Calamity Salvager?

Some of that gear available can be used for glamouring higher level gear if you so wish. Prevents you from grinding and looting to get gear for glamours.

Is there any other info about this gear? Will it be replaced by better before I even get to HW content if I'm not done with the story content between 2.0 and 2.55?

The highest level pre-Heavensward gear is i130. i120 Ironworks gear is available to purchase using Allagan Tomestones of Poetics (referred to simply as poetics by most community members). Poetics are available from the Duty Roulette and level 50 dungeons, raids and trials and are now fairly easy to obtain if you are interested in this level of gear.

(split post due to character limit) Ironworks gear can be upgraded to i130 using Carbontwine and Carboncoat obtained through Grand Company hunts and the quest The Gift of the Archmagus. Other i120 gear is available from the 24 person raid World of Darkness (however there may be less people running this given new content. Keep in mind that this level of gear will be quickly replaced at level 53-56 once you progress to Heavensward content.

Yes, this is what I was concerned about, that the gear would be quickly rendered useless in HW, so it wouldn't really be worth spending the feathers on. However, if it takes until level 53-56 to be replaced, I might just do it. I can't find anything else to spend these feathers on anyway, so there it is.

Ultimately it comes down to, do you want that gear as a glamour? ilvl 115 weapons are available in the starting area of Heavensward so i110 gear can be replaced quite quickly. I believe Dusk Vigil even drops some 120 weapons (I looted a a i120 shield on my last run). The i110 weapons will probably carry you to level 52 after which they will be replaced by Dungeon loot.
