Story for Aura?

Anywhere I can find the background story for the Aura (or however you spell the dragon chars)? I would be interested to see why everyone in Ishgard never mentions them and is totally cool with dragon hybrid people running around their city (when in their lore man laying with dragon is basically the ultimate sin).

The Au Ra are not dragon people. They're on demon motif.

Hopefully there'll be more quests (,oggle delivery?) pertaining to the Au Ra in Eorzea. As it stands there's 6 known Au Ra: DRK guy in Forgotten Knight, Yugiri, that NPC that upgrades law gear, 2 in the NIN story + 1 in the WHM or so I heard.

Based on what I've heard, some of them do get discriminated by the Eorzeans + the Garlean Empire mistreats them worse than they do others.

But yeah, they aren't dragon people and will probably never be confirmed as such ala Miqo'te

Somewhat spoilers here but

there is no indication that anyone actually "lay with dragon". The uh, geometry wouldn't work out. Shiva had a different connection, one that I'm pretty sure didn't bear any offspring.

Apparently, based what I read and was told for the DRK storyline, the Au Ra were driven out by the Garleans. They came to Ishgard looking for refuge, but were refused and because the people in Ishgard believe the Au Ra were Dravanians, they attacked them as soon as they turned around.

Second, they're based on demons in terms of aesthetics. Supposedly. And there's nothing stating they have any connection to dragons (it's actually a disputed claim in-universe).

Third, if you do the DRK storyline you find out the Au Ra actually were persecuted by the Ishgardians for their superficial similarities to dragons.

I'll have to check it out, it just seems to be really conflicting with the close mindedness and instant heretic branding of Ishgardians. I mean in Coerthas they are telling you that besides the chocobo, all beasts and beastmen must be eradicated. Would have been nice if they resolved this via the main story. Then again, the player character is the Warrior of Light so I guess, we are an exception.

Race doesn't really play a role in the main story, mostly because either A) it's not important or B) they might have to change certain scenes if a player is a specific race.

Being that the DRK Au Ra is atleast able to be in the city without being constantly attacked, they probably came to understand (atleast, certain people with enough leverage) that they aren't Dragons or anything. Plus as the WoL who helped out quite a bit already we get a free pass regardless of race.
