I believe Esoterics are due for release at the same time as Alexander Savage and the new Frontline Map which is in 3 weeks I believe.

It's unlikely that poetics will be removed anytime soon.. if ever.

ARR still exists, and still has to account for people that do not own HW. And while I suppose they could change it so you could buy level 50 gear with Law, it'd be ... odd to accumulate a level 60 currency at level 50.

I am curious because I have almost capped poetics which are not useful to me anymore and would be nice to trade in for law. In the past they have allowed a trade option when introduce a new tome and I can't see them doing trades soldiery for law.

Poetics are for lv 50 gear and you can get Poetic the moment you are on a lv 50+ class.
Esoterics are for lv 60 gear and you can get Esoteric the moment you are on a lv 60+ class.

Poetic gear is still usefull for everyone who don't have every job equipped with lv50 / ilevel130 gear. It is not that lv 60 /ilevel 170+ gear will replace lv 50 / ilevel 130 gear for a level 50-55 job.

The tomes we have traded in for now were for gears in the same level range

It's ok for a currency to become obsolete but still exist. It's still useful to people who are not you.

They only upgrade currency when they actually take it out of the game, 3.0 allowed soldiery to be turned into poetics. When law is taken out of the game then you will prob be able to turn it into esoterics. Prob won't happen till 3.2 however.

I've been spending mine on Ironworks gear to desynth. Easy way to level armorer/leatherworker/weaver.

I find it frustrating as they remove currencies, because then they reshuffle and relocate old sets that I'd like to collect for glamour and it becomes a tedious chore tracking down how to get them again and where to find them. :/
