Comparing The Chocobo Quests in 11 and 14

    Final Fantasy 11:

    Minimum Rank - 20

Talk to NPC Brutus and trade a Gausebit Grass to the chocobo. The chocobo will not accept the grass at this time. Come back on another game day and try to feed it again. The chocobo will still not accept the grass. Come back on the third day and the chocobo will now accept the grass. You must now feed the chocobo 3 more times in 3 different game days to complete the quest and gain ability to ride the chocobo.
    Final Fantasy 14

Minimum Rank - 22 for Company

Join a Grand Company in one of the three cities. You must obtain 3,000 credits to obtain the ability to ride a chocobo. To obtain 3,000 credits you must do the initial quests and the dungeons to earn the necessary credits. Additionally you must also advance past recruit stage in one of the companies in order to qualify for the chocobo.

Synopsis: For first glance it appears that the required effort and time to obtain the ability to ride a chocobo from both games is not only about the same. But it appears to be more difficult in 14. Granted this would be from a new player's perspective, but even if you had 3,000 credits saved up, you still need to do the next set of quests to obtain the next rank above recruit to qualify for the chocobo.

Additionally while it may be must faster to get rank 10 in FF14 as opposed to level 20 in FF11, you wouldn't be able to earn the required credits in a company as a rank 10 player. You would still have to get up to 45 in order to enter the Darkhold.

Conclusion: From a new player perspective, getting a chocobo in 14 will take more time and effort than in 11.
