Lol, how will that fix a "centric" system when everyone will just move to Ishgard at that point?
The key to spreading out players is by balancing the content in the areas. Other than marks, which most people don't need, there isn't incentive to be in any other area than Ul'dah for the most part.
Just to note: The main reason why Ul'dah became the center point was because all the stories verge there and maintain there for the most part. (this leads people to just stay there and setup camp)
This a million times. I'm a simple guy, and I'll be going into the Admiral ranks just because she's a furr....furious woman.
Actually it was all about the markets. I knew before the game laucnehd that Ul'dah would end up being the market hub thanks to it being the center of the world, being the best designed city, and because it's home to two melee classes [melee classes skew to the popular side in games], mostly because of the markets, though.
Gridania likely stands the chance of having the second highest population in the future [depending on how much Garlean content they push and how relevant it is, it might overtake Ul'dah at times, but just assume it would take a #2 position], and Limsa will be a distant third for quite a while.
But you can't argue the fact that people just migrated to that city partly because the story said "Hey go to this area, oh btw it shares the same entrance as that city's market wards"
Here's my plan when airships arrive:
Start doing the majority of my leves in Grid. -- The reason for this is because prior to Chocobos (which is now) the easiest method for leves at R40+ are tele to BW, walk up to Halitali, and finish with drybone for my low ranks. With a choco, the walk takes a lot of time, making the distant r40 nodes seem like less of a hassle. And Grid has the marks that i want.
After, I will airship right on over to LL, where I will do all of my Grand Company stuff, like caravan escort. I'm not fearful because if I can easily transport there, so can everyone else.
Then I will finish by going to Uldah, where the market is centered. I don't foresee people moving their shops over, but it doesn't really matter because getting to each city will be a breeze.
When all else fails, Heck the Bed.
How can they fix something that's entirely player run?
Once airships are added to the game, I'm pretty sure more people will branch out to the other cities for the market wards. As of now, Ul'dah is the best choice, given it's the center of the cities.
Yep go for the one you want.. why pic one you don't really care for?
If you like Limsa pick limsa. Its about damn time everyone gets the hell out of Uldah and spreads out into the other areas of the game. Airships, chocobos and anima. Three fast ways to travel, there is no reason not to start expanding more. I am going Limsa personally.I have had some trouble deciding which Company to join.
I definitely enjoy the feel and colors of The Maelstrom the best but, since there is almost no one in LL on my server at any given time I will be missing out on the new caravan content. It is already difficult enough finding a group for leves.
So I am compelled to join the Immortal Flames solely because that is where the MARKET(and hence the population) action is.
This whole issue of market distribution is spilling over to every part of the game....
..maybe it is time to address it?
Besides, if it turns out that no one is in Limsa/Grid something will be done to fix the issue. They are not going to end 'Extended Beta' until the game is ready for PS3 launch, its their last shot to make this game into something.
