Must I join the Eternal Flame?

I have had some trouble deciding which Company to join.

I definitely enjoy the feel and colors of The Maelstrom the best but, since there is almost no one in LL on my server at any given time I will be missing out on the new caravan content. It is already difficult enough finding a group for leves.

So I am compelled to join the Immortal Flames solely because that is where the MARKET(and hence the population) action is.

This whole issue of market distribution is spilling over to every part of the game....

..maybe it is time to address it?

i dont want to have to go out of the way to get my company quest so i picked uldah, all my guilds are in uldah so its just easier. plus ill bet that the company's will specialize in good that are local to their region.

Go with the one that has the items for the classes you enjoy most, and to hell with every other factor.

Market will probably be fixed soon, also airships bro. Join whichever GC you want because you can get to Ul'Dah by just watching a cut scene and paying some gil.

No matter what happens in the game, players will congregate on whatever city is in the middle of whatever content we're all doing. Ul'dah is the closest thing we have to Jeuno: It's in the middle of the other two cities and it's laid out most conveniently. One day it'll be Ishgard... One day....

Ishgard will be the main fix, but that's down the road.

Half the issue revolves around players being stubborn and not leaving Ul'dah. If everyone who complained about Ul'dah being overpopulated would just stay away from it and set up shop in one of the other cities, the problem would solve itself.

I hang out in Limsa ~75% of the time and the rest in Grid. I only visit Ul'dah when I absolutely have to.

Agreed, even though Ul'dah is my hometown, and i'm joining the flames just because I like their backstory/rewards. Just join the company you want, because if not...you'll just end up adding to whats seen as "the problem". S-E really cant make players not congregate in certain cities, but they can make it easier to spread the population, which is exactly what they are trying to do with Grand Company and Airships.

Regardless, you CAN do normal Grand Company quests with members from different companies, just not specific things like Caravan Escort.

How can they fix something that's entirely player run?

Once airships are added to the game, I'm pretty sure more people will branch out to the other cities for the market wards. As of now, Ul'dah is the best choice, given it's the center of the cities.
