If Savage Alex is tuned to be with the healing from WHM/SCH, then AST won't be able to keep up without putting a lot more pressure on whoever the other healer is.

If Savage Alex is tuned to be with the healing from AST/OtherHealer, then WHM/SCH can duo-heal the fight easily enough to output at least 200-400 DPS ontop of keeping the party alive whereas an AST likely won't be able to DPS at all.

Therefore the cards either have to make up for 200-400 DPS throughout the entire fight (which they currently don't) or the AST needs to be able to heal well enough to go into Cleric Stance and DPS....which likely won't be possible because of MP issues.

This also doesn't address the fact that Noct Stance is almost completely useless compared to Diurnal because the only real benefit of Noct is 5% more potency, which is lost when you factor in how much healing a Diurnal AST gets from 3 different regen abilities.

You are making so many assumptions, once again, before savage has been released. There's never been a time in any of the current content where I felt my other healer companion was "carrying me". I've talked to other healers and whilst we all generally agree that nocturnal stance is absolutely broken and useless, Diurnal stance is overall fine for content.

Healing is not a competition. It's about working as a team. If that means the SCH/WHM you are paired with has to spend a little less time in cleric stance then that is 100% fine. It's not like your heals as AST are taking away health from a player - your other healer will be fine.

A healers first priority is healing. DPS is an added benefit. If a WHM/SCH team have the ability to spend a little more time in cleric stance, that is also 100% fine but it doesn't really mean anything in the grand scheme of things - DPS still need to do DPS things, work hard, and meet DPS checks.

I didn't make any assumptions. I posted two situations for the tuning of Savage Coil: either you need to heal enough as a SCH/WHM to pass heal checks or you need to heal as much as an AST to pass heal checks. One of those two will be true because AST heals for less than a SCH/WHM. There are consequences for either as right now AST is in need of a balance pass, and I posted those consequences.

Yoshi-P said they have accounted for healers being able to DPS in raids. Whether that means they made it harder to DPS as healers via constant heavy damage or have made it so DPS checks will generally require your healer to DPS is unknown. But it's more likely to be the latter IMO, so AST is going to fall behind there.

I think you're misinterpreting what he said, really. He basically said they weren't planning on making any changes in regards to healer DPS, as they don't want to take away from the options available for "world first" style groups to push for those first clears. In regards to the actual DPS checks, though, he specifically said they don't factor in healer DPS when calculating them.

I can't actually find the article anymore so I'll take your word for it.

Once again, healer DPS was not included in the development team's calculation as it was for other jobs, so you should just think of healer DPS as a last way to get your overall party's DPS up to where it needs to be.
I don't know why so many ppl have misunderstood what he said, the wording is quite clear to me. Had to cut out some of the quote cause i can't post more than 1000 characters, but the main point should be clear.
