You should be able to have a "PvP seeking" Status. People who have status active can engage each other.

Honestly, the only reason I don't PvP is because everyone is named "Fresh Meat" I want to know who exactly I'm fighting. Competition and Rivalry is actually FUN.

Although I was never a frequent winner in FFXI's Balista, It was fun to fight my brother, LS leader, and friends. we'd even place bets.

the problem is not hunts, the problem is having hunts be the only way to upgrade your armor to ilvl180.

As long as the pvp is optional, I'm all for it.

I've played open world pvp games where it's not an option. It ends badly. Max leveled, heavily geared people sitting outside safe zones to trap players inside comes to mind.

So the solution to badly designed content like A and S rank hunts is to poorly implement some even more toxic, potentially unbalanced mess like open world PVP? No thanks X 100000


Personally it's far more annoying in my opinion to see all these self entitled whiny people shout their displeasure with not getting credit for a hunt because it wasn't pulled to their standard of what an appropriate amount of time is.


Hunts are lame face roll content and unless one spawns in my face I ignore this content completely for the most part. If you want to hunt thats your perogative, but the people that whine in shout because they didn't get credit are more annoying to me than gill seller tells.

In general people should let it go if they don't get full credit, it could be a lot worse / harder to do than it currently is. Anyone that remembers hunting notorious monsters in FFXI for rare items only to be beaten by a Japanese player on the claim due to server latency knows true frustration.

Open world pvp is of the devil. If I wanted to play a game with that, I'd go make a character on a pvp server on WoW or go play FlyFF.

This would be fine.
Right click > Challenge to Duel. Then you can have a one-on-one. You should also be able to make it so no one can challenge you, of course.
But I'd be okay with that.. open world though. No.

I like PVP but I am very picky about it's implementation. Archeage did it right by having statuses for certain zones. There's seven that range from just tension to full-out war, then there's peacetime where no one gets ganked. The chat client also informs you of the status of ___ zone, so you'll know if you need to be prepared or avoid going there.

But I don't see FFXVI really being good for open world PVP because it works pretty differently from that in the sense that the attack/spell speeds feel... slow compared to what I'm used to. And for open world PVP you need to be damned quick to respond if you're taken off-guard. Especially if the person is 10+ levels higher than you and they are on you like white on rice.
