(HUGE SPOILERS) Mild Bragging/How Powerful Are We?

Remember in the very first cutscene with Hydalen where you see a bunch of other adventurers flying around her? Presumably these are others of Hydalen's chosen. So whenever you're in a situation where you need help, but should logically be solo, these other chosen adventures show up out of the aether because they're like, attuned to you, or whatever.

I have to assume that primal battles are done solo, canonically, since it's only through the power of the Echo that we are able to avoid being tempered. If there were other adventurers hanging around who also had the Echo and a similar level of power to the protagonist, it seems odd that they wouldn't be of more note. This isn't the only aspect that's conveniently ignored; how is it that you are able to come back an unlimited number of times when defeated? Ysayle was also chosen by Hydaelyn, but she burst into aether when she was killed, and I don't imagine she respawned at an aetheryte somewhere.

But, yes, I agree... the Warrior of Light is already, one expansion in, quite absurdly powerful. We have bested King Thordan and two Ascians together, as well as numerous other primals, voidsent horrors, giants and dragons. We're on first-name terms with four world leaders and a genius engineer, and when we ask them to jump, they jump as high as they can. We have superlative allies in the goddess Hydaelyn and one of the most powerful beings on the planet, Midgardsormr, who we use as a mount! Our mortal allies aren't too shabby either (and Alphinaud has taken a level in badass). It makes cutscenes where we're surrounded by a few enemies and are forced to withdraw seem out of place... a dozen soldiers shouldn't even warrant our attention.

I think canonically that the other party members are suppose to be other Echo Users in the Scions. Where as the player in question (The person at their respective keyboards/controllers) is THE Warrior of Light. Thus why we are told to "Assemble our (The PC's) Allies for battle. We as the WoL have found other echo users (Being other players) to fight along side. Which imo is a good way to canonize the other players in the game with out violating the plot. So our adversary is THE Warrior of Darkness who is allied with the "Dark Echo Users".

(Strange thought, if The WoL uses Darkness as a Dark Knight does that mean the WoD uses the light to be come a "Holy Knight" since light is his opposite attribute?)

Speculation...end of 3.0 = Ascension, 4.0 = Realm of Gods.
End of 4.0, player is so powerful, he/she destroys the universe...and FFXIV ends. Time for FFXVII.

One does not use Midgarsormr as a "mount."

Midgarsormr allows us to accompany him.

He could easily kill us at any time. The only thing that stopped him the first time was the covenant he made with Hydaelyn.

Way I see it is, echo isn't that uncommon. Game goes out of its way to point out you're not that special near the beginning of your journey.

So, I think.
Dungeons: other adventurers come with us.
Primals: other echo users come with us.
Nabriales: all those dudes chilling in the rising stones hear the commotion and jump through with us.

The other PCs running around have the echo, maybe even the blessing. Your character has the blessing as well but has scooped up a load of crystals and supercharged it. IMHO.

Thats... probably not that far off actually. Though as far as "Jumping through with us", I'd wager that was probably a group of Echo Users too. Not really any (Valid) reason why, just what I'd personally assume.

I know his help is on his terms; I was being disingenuous calling him a mount. I assume that, canonically, he helps us in Azys Lla and carries us to Ishgard, but isn't actually at our beck and call.

I do wonder what holds him back from helping us more directly, though. Hydaelyn has no corporeal presence and seems to work only through her chosen, but Midgarsormr is present in body, albeit not yet in his original form. It would be interesting to see him unleash his real power in aiding us - although perhaps we wouldn't be necessary at all in that situation.

Well he blatantly said when he first started following us around that he wasn't going to hand hold us. The fact that he help us at all instead of being a cryptic little flying asshole was because we REALLY impressed him. And that was no small task to do. And even that only got us the privilege of riding him. I'd hate to know what would cause him to go "Leroooooooy Jeeeeeenkiiiiiins!!!" and actually help us defeat something.

I made a slight exception for Nabri because I assume sitting in Minfilia's chair for 45 minutes staring at the evil portal of doom that's really honestly definitely going to close any second now isn't canon .
