Post Moonfire Faire Cash Shop Items

I have to say I'm disappointed in this news. I thought it was great to be able to work towards these items in game with the last summer event. It gave the event a little more oomph and bang for the buck and I thought it was a GREAT way to include everyone old and new in the event so newer characters could always look to have these items there waiting, next moonfire so that you can get more inclusive.

But no, they have added them to the mog station now and have forever shattered any hopes of getting them in-game again. Next year we will likely just get 2 or three glamour items - likely Japanese summer themed and no swimsuits and there won't be as much to do. I actually got most of my alts to 30 just for this event, (one got left out sadly) and I was happy I had this opportunity for them. Now any new characters, or that one I missed out with, they will have to pay real money if they want any of them...

I am Disappointed, SE, I was hoping that these would be the yearly staple with just a few new items added unique to that year.

However, since you HAVE done this, can you add more sorting in the Mog Station for these seasonal Items? Like Male or Female items and/or single items vs sets? If we are going to have so many items in the market, at least add more sorting options.

well, despite me not really liking the mog station (honestly, if you missed an event you missed it, that simple, but i might just be playing mmo's too long for you to understand that concept)
to be fair, it's final fantasy online tradition (FFXI & FFXIV) that you will be able to get past event items with the next event by either buying them for gil or doing the fates/quests.
while the main theme will change (yukatas, swimsuits, undergarment) the old items will always be implemented again in some way or another.

so don't worry if you missed out on any specific items, you'll get them next time

I'm pretty sure this year's seasonal event items will still be available for prizes next year.

But at least this way if you joined in December you have a means of getting them without waiting six months.

Actually... This is not at all certain these days. When they first opened up the 'optional items' part on the Mogstation, shortly before Halloween last year, the above is what they had been doing. But all of a sudden, all the items we'd been able to get during Halloween 2013 were Mogstation-only. Including the items that were new. (Not having played 1.x, I have no idea which of those items were 2.0 and which were 1.x.) The only things we could get that Halloween were the new items.
Same for the Xmas event 2014. All previous rewards were on the Mogstation, and the event only provided new rewards. The only event since they started adding items to the Mogstation that has offered previous year's rewards was this year's Moonfire Faire. And even there, the only thing we couldn't buy with tokens from the in-game vendor were the new yukatas they added last year. You know, those three yukatas (per gender) that they added to the Mogstation shortly before the event? ^_~

That said, I'm not surprised they're adding the old rewards (2013 and older, that is) to the Mogstation. To be honest, I was a lot more surprised that they didn't do that together with that first batch of yukatas. I know a lot of people back then were complaining that they couldn't get the geta/sandals and the shorts/underwear, thinking they were gone forever.

Every single summer event has had a supply of new items to get. Tops, bottoms, in a variety of themes.

Why do you say that next year will not be like the last five?

Well, this game is a much needed cash infusion to a company that was on the verge of oblivion.

Look at it as people now have even more options to help a company that produces games we love.

You had a lot of time to get those items without paying extra. But now if you want them yes you got to buy on mog station. I don't see the problem here want the items in game without paying extra then do the event.

The issue I was broaching is that I liked that we had these staple items available and unlike the other events after the introduction of Mog Station Cash Shop, these items were still brought in available in game, so I was hoping we'd have something consistent for the summer events.

I'm happy they're still available, but it was nice to have something consistent. For in game events.

Notice however I expressed disappointment but also made a mog station suggestion.

Well, I think this is better than what we had for the last year. Starting with Halloween 2014 (the first event after the mogstation store was created) they were adding items to the mogstation store after them being available in-game only once. Now they are adding them after the items were available twice.

If they continue this, we might see the items from Halloween 2014 purchasable in-game this year, in addition to new 2015 items, with the 2014 items being added to the mogstation store in early November.

While I would prefer if old holiday items remained available in-game forever, for the sake of new players, having two years worth of items available each holiday is a good alternative. A good selection of items in-game keeps the holidays festive, and helps when the developers choose to do something different for a given year.

Example: Valentine's day 2015 only added a new barding, so people who wanted a heart themed outfit for their character only had mogstation store as an option. This restricts the devs into either having to design a new costume each year, or have the players unable to find festive gear in-game.

If hints for 2015 Halloween are true, the outfit being made for the holiday are rather lame recolors of normal crafted gear, because the focus will be on a mount and pet reward instead. That's an example of the devs being forced to do a new costume when they'd rather focus on a different type of event reward.
