Disappointing sales. The Elder Scrolls Online outsells Heavensward.

Ok so the first week sales for Heavensward is in and it is disappointing.

As you can see hear http://www.playstationlifestyle.net/...but-game-2015/ Heavensward barely made it into the top ten best selling games in its first week at retail and was also outsold by The Elder Scrolls Online that has been on sale for 3 weeks now.

Not only that but Heavensward sales are worse then A Realm Reborn sales in its first week as you can see here http://www.engadget.com/2013/09/02/s...n-berths-in-t/

I wouldn't worry too much. Both of those figures are for the UK only, so it's no indication of Heavensward's overall success. Even still, an MMO can keep a healthy community and stay profitable on what many would consider poor sales.

Well, keep in mind that Heavensward is an expansion, not a new game like ESO. Plus, unlike FFXIV, ESO no longer has a subscription. That's a deal-breaker to some players.

1. Elder scrolls online is B2P now so of course more people will generally buy it and its Elder Scrolls.
2. That was UK only so we have no idea how it did in America/Japan.
3. A Realm Reborn was a relaunch of a failed game so people were curious and alot of people bought it.
4. That was a top 20 list meaning it is fairly high in the list you can't narrow it down to 10 and say its disappointing.
5. Most of those games above are single player games except for Elder Scrolls and Destiny and not many people play MMOs so of course will be lower than them.
6. Also the games in the list for A Realm Reborn weren't all that great only worthwhile games are the ones above which people mainly care about Saints Row 4 and Splintercell.
7.Does it include digital?

Overall, i think it was successful even though it was going up against games such as Batman, Witcher 3 and Elder Scrolls.

this, I work at gamestop and we barely had anyone show me, the customers I know that played it, myself, and a co-worker all bought it online.

My post wasn't a joke. A market as big as the UK is a ample sample size to see how the game is selling in other markets worldwide.

The only difference will be Japan as there game market is very different from the rest of the world.

A good example would be this. The X box one only sold 100 units last week in Japan yes you read that right ONLY 100 http://kotaku.com/xbox-one-reaches-a...ium=Socialflow

thing is, in general this game isn't as popular in europe compared to other areas for several reasons. It's really not the best comparison

Not only that, you really need to only buy the game if you are a Vet.
Still got plenty of people who aren't in 3.0.

Hmm does retail sales even include digital ales at all for example or orders that wen over Amazon or SE itself? Since english is not my first language, I am not sure how that is divided.

ESO is buy to play, FFXIV is pay to play. You can't really compare them as it's similar to saying a free to play game is more successful because it has more players... The barrier to entry is much smaller so it's not really a fair comparison when you consider that most of FFXIV's profit comes from the subscription and not box sales.
