Please make adjustments to Wind-up Sun Minion

I'd like to request the devs make some changes and additions to the Wind-up Sun minion.

Okay, some of you might be like "a minion? what the hell?!" but for those of you who aren't aware...this little guy has some very useful features. I suck at screenshots so I am sharing the link to the imgur album I made for this.

The windup sun is a very useful tool for taking screenshots.

1.) The minion does not move or follow you like the others do, allowing you to place it anywhere you want and it will stay put.

2.) The /poke command can toggle between 3 different height settings

3.) The minion gives off light and can be used to illuminate backgrounds or characters for screenshots.

4.) It's also targetable so you can place or or multiple suns to have characters looking in different directions.

5.) It vanishes when you hide the heads up display so you can take your screenshot without the minion present in the photo.


Here is the functionality I would like to see added to it.

1.) Please allow us to change the brightness settings. At a minimum between on and off.

2.) Please allow us to have a 4th position where we can place it on the floor.

3.) I would like the minion to be able to be attacked so we could take action screenshots while using actions that would normally require an enemy to use. (I might want to make a picture where i'm attacking some miqo'te haha.)

I really think this minion is great and hopefully this was educational as well for some. I really would like for this minion to be more useful than it already has been and might enhance screenshots. I'm not good at taking them but others might be more creative.


If you don't have one and you want one, take an Elixer down to Isle of Umbra (just take the ferry from Aleport) and look for an imp in a pot. He'll make the trade with you.

Take an Elixer to the Magic Pot waaay out on the Isle of Umbra. He'll give it to you.

I agree with this - i'd also like to add that the sun minion should be able to be used along side any other minion - sometimes i want beautifully lit screenshots with my cute mini-Goober along side me. Also, it should be allowed in dungeons! There's 5 minutes of time after completion before you get booted, plenty of screenshotting time ;D

Just as a side note, if you don't want to have to use your sun minion as a target (because you need it somewhere in front of you to make your skin look FLAWLESS), you can use the 'Pause Break' key to make your character look in any direction. Just rotate the camera to where you want to look and hit the key (i think it's only visible to you, no other players will be able to see that you're looking else where, so it only really works if you are solo-screenshotting). Useful though
