Some of the FATE placements are horrible for people doing MSQs

I don't know if this has been addressed, but Square needs to either remove certain FATEs, or put them in different areas. This is in regards to Main Story Quests, like doing the quests up to the Ramuh battle. I remember the Scion NPCs starting to take of running, but then they teleported back after I was attacked by a sylph toadstool, that a nearby FATE spawned on me. The Sylphlands are already crawling with enemies that attack on sight in packs. Couple that with the FATE enemies, as well as the ones spawned by the MSQ themselves, it becomes frustrating. My ilvl was over 107, but it didn't matter when I got swarmed by 5 to 7 enemies at once. Killing two of them brought back another from the FATE, so things didn't end well for me there (I died). I didn't even want to do the FATE and I shouldn't be forced to do it or wait for it to expire. Something similar happened near the Highbridge in East Thanalan, with a huge Amalj'aa and his rat-faced goons standing before a set destination I needed to reach. Fix this. Seriously.

I'll second this. Particularly in the new HW areas, it's rare that at least one of my MSQ or Sidequests for an area don't stick me right on top of a FATE that makes it very difficult to complete the task at hand. And it's a giant pain to have to complete a FATE or clear out the FATE specific enemies just to do a quest that requires a fraction of the time that you spend dealing with the FATE issues. I know in particular that a quest I did recently had a FATE specific enemy spawn directly on top of the NPC I had to speak to to progress the quest. And I had to speak to said NPC multiple times during the brief time I was in that area for the quest objectives. To make matters worse, the FATE enemy was on a short respawn timer, meaning I had to kill it then immediately talk to the NPC and speed read the dialog before it respawned and knocked me out of the dialog with a single attack. Particularly egregious as during the final part of the dialog the NPC left in one of those slow "walk away" moments where you can't move until they are done, and an interruption forces you to restart the interaction.....

If fates were worth some real exp it wouldn't be expiring and this wouldn't be such a problem, in fact it would be bonus exp then. Too bad they suck so much everyone ignores them =/

The placement is also off for when you have to talk to a npc, that triggers a event where monsters pop and start to assault you. I've had many quests where I'm trying to talk to the npc, and 5-10 other guys have already talked to, and popped monsters on top of me. And I get hit and interrupted in my attempt to speak to said npc.

It's come to the point, that whenever I play as SMN, I bring out Titan-egi and Chocobo companion to fight them off, while I talk to the npc. It's kinda amusing to see lol

I wish we could opt out of automatically joining FATEs and being attacked by all these mobs, especially when questing.

Indeed this is so true. I've taken the time and took out mobs that arournd the MSQ area while people watch the CS. Seen people get close to death because of being hit by AoE or aggro.

It's nothing to do with that. It's about FATEs spawning on top of you when you're trying to talk to an NPC and kicking you out of the conversation.

As for a fix to this, they should just copy SWTOR and make people talking to NPCs invulnerable.
