Triple Triad Tournament... no longer worth the time

I will not participate in the tournaments until the rewards for playing NPCs is set back to what it was. I don't care about the win traders any more, let them cheat. All I want is my 2 or 3 platinum packs for a "chance" of getting a rare card. I never felt like I was "gaming" the system by doing so. They were legitimate wins/draws/losses.

A game is played for rewards of some sort. Getting something we deem worth spending our time doing. When that is no longer the case, we stop playing the game. It really is as simple as that.

I don't know if someone has already stated this, but 50 games to participate in the tournament is too many. 20 would be fine, but 50 nope. Also as it is now when the tournament is broken and npc wins don't count as much, it's really not worth the time anymore.

100% agree. I assume that they give the tournaments so many matches to try to appeal to people who really like Triple Triad and want to play it more, but for most people (myself included) that many matches turns TT from a fun pass time into a tedious chore.

A very simple solution would be to different Tiers for each tournament. The lower tiers have less matches and have a slightly reduced payout. Hardcore players can still participate in the highest tiers and do their 50 matches and get a slight MGP bonus.

I get today 10887 mgp and 2 platinum cards and played all 50 games against npc. win 47/50. Better than last time I get 0 cards and 5k mgp but still not good as it was before. Before I get 20k+ mgp and 3 platinum cards with same effort.

Again, the issue now is finding that many people who want to play matches - no one cares about TT anymore because the prizes are simply not worth the effort at this point - it's hard enough to find someone to play one match against you, much less 50. They upped the amount of matches we had to play, causing people to flock to NPCs or win trade. Now that NPCs give no incentive to match against, all this does is continue to encourage win trading.

With 50 matches required and painful rulesets... no, not worth my time. I've got better things to waste my time on. Gold Saucer officially has nothing worth doing anymore. Chocobos were never good, GATEs... I guess if you want the achievements, fine, but MGP payout is worthless. Lottery? Might as well play lotto at the gas station.

New tourney still has no fix.

However, it's Order/Same, and punching out Elmer with an OP deck gets you 82 each time.

Still absolute crap, but it's your best bet for this one.

Update: Finished the 35 matches. Won 25, tied 10 thanks to some really dumb plays on my part, and that annoying Hildebrand card at the end. Ended with 2447, which is still behind someone with 1 win.

I'm very new to FFXIV still but quite love the Gold Saucer and Triad especially.

Only did one tournament last time it was up and saw many people with 6k+ points, and then discovered that it is possible to wintrade.


But the problem seems to be fairly easy to manage to me, in two ways you can do it without shafting people.

1. If you join the tournament, and wanna play against a player, you cannot choose your opponent but instead got to que up and meet a random player.

or

2. You can only play against the same player one timer pr day. (this will shaft major wintraders in the way that they can muster together a large possey and perhaps push one dude to the top, but would shaft everyone else helping one player get the price.) This would also encourage people to want to play against people they meet perhaps?

I dunno, i'm new and everything is new and everything is shiny but people seem to have way to complicated rants about how to fix it :P
