About the final story fight...(possible spoilers)

Isn't it a bit too easy? I realize story isn't supposed to be overly difficult, but Ultima Weapon could wipe you several times if you played badly. I feel like that difficulty was just right.

Don't get me wrong... this fight is the most epic thing I've ever seen in an MMO. The concept of who the fight is against... the graphics... the music... the abilities, all of that. My eyes were bulged open throughout the whole fight. I can't remember the last time a fight in an MMO has made me do that(I don't think it ever happened until that fight lol.)

So then shouldn't such an epic fight have a matching epic feeling during the fight that you are actually struggling? I feel like it's hard to lose in that fight. Seems like people can just yolo it, get hit by the AoEs, and nothing bad happens from it. Compare that difficulty to something like Ravana in the storyline...

I think players would've been fine with wiping quite a few times. It would've meant they got to stay in such an epic battle until they truly conquered it. I know I would've been ok with it. This really is my only complaint with the fight. Otherwise I'd still rate it 20/10 for just how amazing it is. It's like you're actually fighting in a movie lol.

It is a nice fight but I thought it was quite easy myself.
My FC did it is a group the other day and we solo tanked it, on DRK no less.

What I wish is that "Knights of the Round" were more epic. I guess my expectations are too high from FF7. Imagine if he casted a "Knights of the Round" like that where every single member of the Heavensward attacked you, one after the other in quick succession, not like the 2 or 3 at a time we have now.

It could have been a more difficult fight, but when I look back on previous story-enders, only the original Steps of Faith was probably the hardest one, and it's now been nerfed. Fighting Livia sas Junius and Ultima Weapon were quite easy even back then when i90 was the strongest gear. Maybe you're thinking of Ultima Hard Mode? The story mode was never an issue for anyone, as it is designed to be completed in AF gear and Level 40ish jewelry... I'm sure it's easy by design. I was actually quite surprised of the ease of Leviathan and Ramuh in their story modes. But notice how much the difficulty jumps from their story mode (which is REQUIRED) versus the Extreme mode (which is OPTIONAL) where you really need to be on your toes. Perhaps we can see an Extreme version of this fight when that dumb Bard in Seventh Heaven wants to sing about it, much like he did for Ultima and Savage. Please look forward to it!

I actually thoroughly enjoyed the hell out of it, and I don't mind that it wasn't the most difficult of battles. A lot of older rpgs will make the journey difficult and the last boss so-so. Besides, the things after ramp the difficulty back up. When I originally finished ARR's ultima weapon fight, about four weeks after release, I was a healer and because it was a hard fight I got shouted at. A lot. To the point where it was hard to focus on the cutscenes because I had some dps's cursing ringing in my ears. So this was quite nice to go through and I think fitting, the point of it all was that they were never going to be as strong as the WoL. Besides, healing is a lot different to dpsing haha, and I still had a lot of running around and stuff to throw out as some people just can't move fast enough.

tl dr I agree it's easy, but I appreciate it for that so I can finish the MSQ in peace before digging my claws into the really hard stuff. There's nothing worse than struggling to get to the conclusion of the storyline when a group wipes, wipes disbands.

When the first people were beating the 2.0 story, I used to hear about how Ultima would wipe people on phase 2, would sometimes see it. Personally, my party in 2.0 wiped several times on the first phase of Ultima and we barely beat it before the timer kicked us out. Here, you could go to any twitch stream of anyone playing FF14 and see them get hit by AoEs in the 3.0 final fight yet still beat the fight with ease. It'd be awesome imo if you had to use a tank LB to survive "Ultimate End" or at least force people to pop all their largest defensives(succor, mantra, foresight, etc.) Or if the AoEs actually punished you for standing in them.

I don't know, the entire package of the fight screams struggle to me. The enemy you see before you strikes a sense of intimidation. When you first see it, it's like... wow, I have to fight THEM? The music screams epic struggle. Yet when you actually do the fight it's no struggle at all, not even a little. It feels off to me, takes a little bit of the immersion out of the experience for me.

They definitely need to make an extreme version of this or something lol. It's just too good of a fight.

Mechanically, I didn't much care for the fight. It was visually stunning and the music was incredible, but I'm ashamed to say I got carried (I hate beating things in games with no idea how or why I beat it. The accomplishment feels hollow)...although, that didn't seem to bother people because when 4 of us explained that we were new, the other half of the party said no explanation was needed and we could just wing it. I don't mind that it wasn't that challenging, but when half your party, one of whom (me) is healing, has no grasp of what's going on, and you can still clear the fight with virtually zero difficulty then eeeeeeeh, I think it's safe to say it's a bit too easy.

And this is a very good reason of why making something too easy is bad. The final battle... the climax of the story. Overcoming such a thing should leave a sense of accomplishment, not a hollow feeling.
