Fair enough. But it's hard to offer hardcore content when you don't even have the basics in place. I mean, you just have to look at the "gear is good for 3 months" thread to see even hardcore players don't want to waste their time on something that won't amount to anything.

That said, I think the materia system will be more to hardcore player liking, especially since the ultra rare combinations sound like a real pain in the butt (just the way you like it ).

I don't think how you obtain a chocobo to raise is necessarily the place to make the stand for more hardcore content, however. It wasn't that hard to get started in FFXI. You could buy an egg from a vendor cheap if nothing else. And in this game, since chocobos are such an important, iconic figure in Final Fantasy lore, it shouldn't be difficult for a casual player to get, either.

if you talk to most hardcore crafters in the game you will realize that the majority are not in favor of the crafting changes in general. the main people that are supporting this change is the people that do not like crafting now and will not like crafting after because the mini game itself is the main complaint i hear about and it is not being touched at all.

Many of the "hardcore" crafters I've spoken to admit the main reason they don't like the new changes, is because they won't be able to make as much money or have as big of a monopoly on the economy. They don't care if these changes may make the game better.

i think you must have hit your head too hard. how is hq items that are 100% sure synths and easier to make and get the hq parts made for going to stop making gil? if anything it will increase the amount of gil the crafters are making because people will be buying the same gear over and over due to them breaking it trying to hq the same item. it's pure ignorance than to think the overall amount of gil a crafter will make will not increase.

even after the changes if the price on a item drops from 50k to 40k and you sell 20 of them instead of 4-5 of them you make massively more gil. that's not counting people paying them to attach materia to that item after it's sold. if your friends are really that far out of touch with reality then there's just no help for them.

I'm okay with the elimination of parts because it never really fulfilled its function, which was to create a "parts market." It simply never materialized. Instead, parts became a way to keep lower leveled, or specialist crafters out of the market for certain products (quite a few things require leveling multiple crafts if you can't find parts), which I believe is the opposite of the intended effect.

Streamlining the whole process will be good for new PS3 players who join so they can make products they can actually sell to other low ranked newcomers, and ensure there's a good supply of cheaply priced low rank gear available.

the reason it hasn't materialized is because of low population. why am i going to go make a bunch of hammer grips and put them in my bazaar for months if there's nobody to sell them to?

if you are crafting then you will make friends that craft and i can assure you if you need a hammer head or hammer grip for an item you are making and bring them the mats they will be happy to make it. i know i do it all the time for others, but i am not going to waste my limited bazaar space trying to sell an item that is not going to sell. if there were people that were in game that needed the item and it would sell, yes, i would sell them, but i am not going to put up a stack for a month to sell one of them.

They should created a hardcore dungeon just for you and the other 1000 players like you, it can be endless death and challenge with ultimate rewards that no one else will have. It could take you a year to finish, etc. Unfortunately you are not the average gamer and I don't think FFXIV is out to please you. Can there be harder content yes, but realistically you have to keep in mind that many folks still haven't cleared or gotten all the gear from DH. The future player base will have still have hardcores but my "thought" is the vast majority will be casual. Let the Casual vs. Hardcore vs. EAsy Vs. Difficult arguement continue to rage! I have a feeling this discussion will still be going on a year from now..

    PS thanks for the videos!

There is hardcore stuff until you beat it. When the R45 dungeon came out, it took some people a while to figure out how to beat it. Some of us are still enjoying it because we have "younger" people to the game and it's their first time.

It is only hardcore until you defeat it. I bet when they introduced the dungeon you were quiet about having nothing to do "hardcore".

You also realize this debate will never end because every time new content will be introduced, people will end up beating/winning it all until other new content is introduced.

Meanwhile, like someone else posted here, go fight lvl 75+ mobs, they are extremelly challenging, and they will surely demand all your skill.

Exactly. Most people didnt beat the Darkhold on their first time through...and definitely not Totorak unless they went in way over the recommended level (which I still think Yoshi should've done something to prevent that). Some people are just going to keep going at it day after day until they beat it...and then claim it was too easy later on (once they've found what they believe a sure strategy).
