New player dungeon experience is bad

I originally wrote a post that was 6x the character cap on the thread. Oh well. To sum up my rant: Overgeared players who were doing the story dungeons just for the completion rewards ruined the game's finale for me. I basically played none of The Praetorium because the group finished everything while I was watching cutscenes. There are ways square could improve the experience for new players without a lot of work. The story and challenging non-raid content were the only things that made this game stand out over other WoW style games for me. If the players are going to ruin that experience and square isn't going to put systems in place to ensure that their best content gets experienced properly, I have no reason to bother continuing with this game, which up until this point I was mostly enjoying.

Really only happens in that dungeon, and i didn't really mind watching the cutscenes non stop, besides imagine how you would feel if you had to sit there for 20 minutes because someone is watching cutscenes, everytime you get thrown into that place during a random Queue.

I think they (mostly) learned from their mistakes on Castrum/Praetorium with the expansion. There was one dungeon that had a couple cutscenes before the end bosses, but nothing like Castrum/Prae. It's also a 4-man, so it's much harder to rush in and ignore anyone watching the cutscenes.

Oh boy do I remember the time people started fights in there while I was in CS. And the content was still really new then. SE learned not to put that many CSs in a dungeon now. Only happens in there. It's a bad experience but you really didn't miss much. If you got the CSs in that's really the most important part. Don't sweat it.

Well sorry people don't want to watch a cutscene of a gate opening and sirens going off or a door opening for the 500th time just for you. That content is super old and everyone has done it a lot.

I know it's a shame, but like others have said, SE learned from those two dungeons and don't really do that anymore. If you did miss any cutscenes you can always go back to your inn room and watch there. And ignore the people saying "blahblahblah it's old content how dare you watch the cutscenes when WE already have". The story is one of the big selling points of FFXIV, so watch it.

I watched the cutscenes and was basically non stop afk in that dungeon, screw the haters.

Not trying to hinder what you are trying to enjoy, but like most have said, because it is very old content, most people go through it and many if not most of the older content like the wind. I would suggest, even though you might not agree, is to skip the cut scenes if you are new so you can enjoy the content inside, then go to the Inn and watch what you missed afterwards.

Or---- keep watching those cut scenes, because lol soon you will end up like the rest of us. Having watched all that 1.7 millions times. And you can enjoy the inside for the 1st time. Because after about the 600th run or so you will be on Netflix hitting hotkeys when you Queue.

You're really not even missing much if you watch the cutscenes after in the inn there are about 2 that are worth watching not including the ending which triggers when you leave the dungeon anyway.

Look at it from their(and my) perspective. Everyone has the chance to do roulettes every single day, meaning every day people are queuing into the main scenario roulette which gives new people a chance to do the dungeon and progress in the story. It's awesome that the games gives people incentive to go back and do it. BUT... that's 365 days a year for YEARS of roulettes...

It's not realistic to expect them to wait after doing that same dungeon countless times. It was no different when I did it last July, and no one waited then... a year ago... They're not waiting now.
