We have to buy Heavensward twice? for different platforms?

I have bought ffxiv for PC and ps4 and bought heavensward for PC but I must buy Heavensward for the ps4 also? I don't recall FFXI requiring this for expansions.

I can make a Aura on pc but not on ps4? I can play the Au Ra character on ps4 that I have created on the pc but I can't create one?

Recall again. Most of FFXI expansion's data was on the disc, which mean you had to have a disc for the expansion you wanted for each platform you used. Now a days, the data come with the patch, but everyone wants a cut of the profit from selling you a copy.

Not quite, for pc buying the console version was all you would need and FFXI gave the expansions for download for free as long as it was registered to your account. As for consoles as long as you had registration you could use the expansion but you needed it installed from the disc that much is true. I have bought heavensward ps4 and have access for it on another account(I pay for my brothers account). I was expecting I could just use the disc seeing how my account has access to it for pc but that is not the case. As expansions are now also tied to platforms unlike how FFXI was.

Its not a big deal but took me by surprise. I wonder If I log off on pc in Ishgard can i log back on through PS4. I wonder what will happen.

You'll be unable to play that character, that's why they warned people without registration codes to log out of expansion zones before Early Access ended. I don't know if a GM would be able to kick your character to another zone or not either.

If you created an Au Ra on your account, i would like to think they wouldn't even allow you to play your account on a non-expanded client anyway.

But yes, you have to purchase each platform you play on. I assume they did this to eventually phase out the PS3 version, but they throw this in your face on all the websites and such.

It really goes without saying, if you dont have Heavensward on the platform you're playing on...you wouldn't be able to access those areas.

You can play on your character on a non-HW client as long as it's not in a HW-zone, it's been tested already and only the location matters. You can even use the new jobs on a non-HW platform if you have already unlocked them. You can't gain any exp past level 50, though, your exp bar gets locked.

You see I don't think so I think this has been miss said in a number of ways so I'm going to use an example.

Person has both ps4 and PC of 14.
They want to play the expansion.
Person can only get one copy for now so he gets one or the other.
Down the line they want to play on the other set up so needs to buy the expansion for that one.

I think if for right now if you just want to play on one platform you can do that with out buying both but if you want to play on the other also then ya need to buy both.

This has been very confusing for people and I think it needs a very clear answer.
