    Changes

This may sound like a rant, or just me complaining, but I have found a few things that seem.. clunky or odd.

    1) Arcanist spells: Bio and Virus. Both are instant cast, yet Bio triggers a global cool down, yet Virus doesn't. What's the sense making it instant (besides casting while walking) if it triggers the cool down? I'm sure this applies to other classes and their spells too.

    2) Targeting: Tab-targeting can target creatures nearly behind you, 40y away, etc.. nearly everywhere you don't want to tab-target to.. instead of focusing on the enemy in front of you. I have changed the targeting under the Character Configuration panel and it still doesn't seem to work well.

    3) Mounts: When you talk to any npc you get dismounted. Is it considered offensive to talk to someone while mounted? Can you not concentrate on the npc while mounted? Is your mount afraid of being close to other people so it runs away? It just seems odd that you dismount just to complete a quest, or for a 2 second dialog to further a quest, then you have to mount again.

    4) Buffs / Debuffs: When playing as a Healer, it's imperative that you Esuna debuffs right away. I have found it rather hard to distinguish between players temporary buffs and enemy debuffs on party members. There is no distinguishing mark for either, nor is there a placement for them so you can identify them. In a boss fight where the boss is using paralysis, poison, etc. I have found myself mousing over icons to figure out what they are. This leads to my teammates dying in combat, which means I now need to heal them up, and ignore the debuff anyway.

    5) Armory gear: I believe there should be some way to sort our weapons / armor in the Armory inventory. It's rather hard to find level gear if you have a few classes leveled already, since most of the gear would be usable to all your classes. If there was a level sorting or class sorting feature in the armory then we can find relevant gear quicker, or even shade the icons that don't pertain to our current class so we can overlook them.

    6) Levehests: I have found this rather odd. I acquired some levehests in town when I logged in for the day and went to the area to complete them. I then tried to turn them in to the levemete npc in the area only to find I didn't do their startup levehest quest and wasn't "allowed" a dialog option to turn in my levehests. I had to wait until I returned to town just to turn them in, which made me rather disappointed since I was about to level and could turn in another quest in the area.

    7) Chat: When entering a party, I greet everyone with " /p Hello! (auto-translated). "
The problem with this is, it doesn't change my dialog to party and if I go to say something else, it's in whatever channel I was in, usually linkshell. My problem with this is, most other MMO's change your active chat channel when you send a message in that channel. While this is a good thing to stay in a channel you are currently in and having the ability to send a single message to another, at times you also wish to change your current channel.

Sorry again for the rant, I do rather like this game , it's just I wish to see some improvements made if possible and would like to have them known.

First, you can exceed the 1000 character limit by editing your post.

1.) Bio and Virus function very differently. Bio is an attack spell part of the ARC/SMN rotation designed to do damage; as such, it uses a GCD. Virus is an off GCD mitigation tool designed to weaken incoming damage, it has a much longer recast timer and is designed to be used as soon as big moves are being used; as such it is OGCD so that you aren't stuck waiting for the GCD to use it when it is needed.

2.) You get more used to the tab targetting system the more you do it it's all about the way you angle your camera. Alternatively, it can be quicker to switch targets from the enemy list, particularly in trials where you need to change to a specific add. If you're playing on one of the Playstation platforms you can still change target based off of the enemy list by holding L1 and using up and down on the D-pad.

3.) A minor inconvenience at worst. I'm used to just dismounting already anytime I want to talk to someone. No idea why this is.

4.) All of the major/reoccuring debuffs that I can think of are typically red with a white image in the middle. If there are special debuffs in an encounter, you'll just have to learn them. Again, the more you play and get used to the different symbols, the easier they are to pick out.

5.) Do you mean in your retainers or in your actual armory inventory? In your retainers, you can sort only so that all like inventory is grouped together bodies, hands, waists, legs etc. In the armory inventory everything you can't use should be grayed out as you stated.

6.) Each levehest giver is their own unique entity. The leves you get in town are not the same leves as the ones you get in the field towns. In the same vein it'd be odd if I finished a quest and took the results to someone else who was mildly related. With aetherites though, travelling is incredibly easy so getting back to town to turn the leve in and then teleporting back to the same town you were in shouldn't be much of a problem save for a few cases.

7.) If you want to change you channel instead of typing "/p Hello! (auto-translated)." and then hitting enter, type "/p" hit enter "Hello! (auto-translated)". By typing /p then hitting enter it changes your current channel. /p, /l1-/l8 for linkshells, /s for say, /sh for shout, /fc for FC, etc.

I hope some of that helped. A lot of it you just get used to the more you experience it.

    More to the point

    1) Sustain: half the casting time as the global cool down. Bio: instant and triggers cool down. <-- abilities like this need to be used in combat, trigger the GCD and yet are instant or half the GCD timer. so that's time you sit there twiddling your thumbs waiting for another action to be ready. I understand Virus is meant to be instant and in response to enemy attacks and not trigger the GCD, so it can be used and not interrupt your spell chains. While that is great, it still doesn't make much sense to have certain abilities be instant and trigger the GCD and others not. Why not make the spells with a shorter casting time then the GCD full cast time unless they're meant to be cast if and only if you need to be mobile.

    2) I was just in a fight with 2 Ziz, had to target my Carbuncle to heal them, and went to tab back to the one Ziz in front of me.. my tab-targeting found about 4 targets in the background before settling on the Ziz again. I had meant to return to fighting quickly and didn't want to have to mouse click back to it (so much for that). Why not make targeting more intuitive so it targets hostiles (as per the filter I am currently, supposedly using) then target other hostiles, then the neutral enemies. With tab-targeting finding every single mob as a target, it's almost pointless to use it at all. I don't want to keep moving my screen just so tab-targeting functions well.

    3) 90% of games with mounts, this doesn't occur.. was my point. As for you adjusting to it, that's good. I don't want to have to dismount just to talk to someone in 1 town, mount and travel again, dismount to talk, mount again.. etc. Nothing minor about it when it disrupts the flow of the game and your questing. Last time I checked MMO's are mostly about questing and flowing well.

    4) Quick search through class icons.. Gladiator - Rampart - red icon. Archer - Straight Shot - red icon. Lancer - Blood for Blood - red icon.. Again, at a glance, being new to the game, you never know what the icons mean and you NEED to know a debuff to remove it ASAP. As I mentioned with mounts.. about 90% of other MMO's have this sorted out already. There's no reason to bunch them all up, as this will definitely confuse newer players. Which was and still is my complain with this.

    5) My Armory, and no. I am currently an Arcanist, and all my weapons are shown, not shaded. More to the point, I would rather have anything not pertaining to Arcanist shaded, tradeskill gear/weapons mostly. The shading only sorts out if your current class can use it, and all tradeskill items have "All classes" on them which means they are constantly visable. I'm sure most people discovered Gear Sets and use them to change classes easily, which removes the need to see weapons not pertaining to your active class, so why not shade them as well?

    6) While that is true that the NPC's are unique to themself, and the quests may be different. If you accept a Levehest in town and goto the area to complete the Levehest, and there is an NPC in a nearby town, why not turn the Levehest in there? Oh wait, you can't because you no longer have Leve Allowances to accept that Levehest and then turn them all in. Why not make the NPC have a chat dialong where you can accept their Levehest to unlock their quests, and also an option to turn in others (especially when you just completed them just outside the town).

    7) That is exactly what I was looking for.

PS thanks for the tip on editing a post to get around the character limit.

Buff and debuff icons usually have a pointed top or bottom. Buffs point up, debuffs point down.

The reason for having insta cast GCD spells is so you can move - that does not exclude them from being used when standing still though but they are there to help out casters when they need to move. Off-GCD skills generally have a cost associated to them outside your primary resource - be it a long cooldown(virus) or resource usage(aetherflow stack for energy drain).

Also there is skill queueing if you don't use macros. You can hit the next skill when at around 1/4 gcd left. So instead of tiwddling there waiting for gcd refresh after sustain(this is really only relevant in solo content or other odd cases - and it doesn't require to target the pet to cast it on them) you can already get read to queue your next spell.

    2. Tab targetting as said is very reliant on your viewport - usually angle up the camera so you are staring down at yourself can make usually tab targeting very much easier.
    3. Used to be you had to dismount to speak. There was no auto dismount. And really is it hard to see the immersion of this? You're an adventurer not a lord or lady.
    4. Phais already said it - some debuffs cannot be removed as well. The icons generally are very distinct as well.
    5. The armory will grey out things you cannot equip due to your level - outside of that anything that is not greyed out you can equip on your current job - the one exception here are weapons because weapons define your job - you equip any other weapon than yours and you will change to the job that that weapon can use - if you unlocked it that is.
