What do I use the poetics tomes for now?

I own all the Ironworks gear from Moh Dohna so I'm always at 2000/2000 for poetics from doing roulette and what not daily. Just wondering if they are used for anything else later on, or is it just for the items with Auriana? Thanks!

Mostly gearing alt jobs for 3.0, 2.0 relic quest and crafting mats, also some minions. You can also trade the poetic gears for grand company seals, so there's that too.

You could always buy poetic gears and desynthesize it, if that's something you do.

Yea, even without having all poetics gear, I don't see the point in the tomestones. Without the Carbontwine and Carboncoats to upgrade everything, there's no point in buying the Ironworks gear since you can literally buy equips from the NPC vendors in Ishgard that are only slightly worse, and after two levels, are better. Because of this Poetic tomestones have become even more worthless than Soldiery were, since Weathered gear was at least a good upgrade, (and really the best gear before you got WoD/Ironworks gear), compared to the best gear you could buy at the time, and all the "better" gear required quite a bit of grinding and praying to the RNG for your drop. As is, there's no use for Poetics post lvl 52 unless you're back using them for maps for alexes for a relic weapon.....

You can still do the 3 raid repeatable quest for the choice of carbontwine or carboncoats.

Two things....

1) Did they change it to repeatable daily, or is it still weekly repeatable? If it's still weekly, then by the time you could upgrade a full set of Ironworks gear, you could also have gotten well past the point that the upgraded gear would be useful.....

2) I can still see this as being a viable way of upgrading your gear if you're short on gil now that I think about it. Even buying from the MB, getting full gear at 50 would still cost about 100k, (on my server at least, currently), which while not much for most players, can be a bit much for players who don't craft or gather items, or who otherwise don't sell on the MB. I was just getting at that for the average player, Poetics have become worth a lot less than Soldiery was a week ago, (a little over a week for those of us with EA). Particularly on your first class going into the 3.0 quests, as they throw HQ gear at you like candy every couple of levels......
