    Please consider Alexander ilvl req to 165

    While I understand the desire to set this to i170, one thing I think that was missed was that there are a few slots of jewelry which are better crafted and melded than the law gear for some classes, and these are i150 which drag the average ilvl down. So even with a full set of law, minus 3 pieces of jewerly, you'll be i165. The alternative at that point is to go ahead and just buy the 3 pieces with law which you won't use much except to initially get into alexander, or grind out some esoteric pieces while at the same time upgrading your i170 to i180. Again, totally doable, but should be completely unnecessary. It seems to me having such a tight ilvl restriction defeats the purpose of the ilvl requirement system to begin with (Intention of the system here).

    This sort of aligns with what you'd like so I'll echo here, get rid of the ilvl restriction for premade parties please. Total nuisance when I got blocked and had to acc shuffle my healer or bard back in FCoB days just so I could get in the watered down echo DF version, something I've no doubt would repeat again in future.

    Now when a player reaches 60, he unlocks Law and he needs grind Law before he can do Alex...
    i think the design just gate fresh 60 from Alex. make sure they have grinded a while (regardless they are rich or not) before doing Alex ^^;

    The opposite is also true, where someone can pimp out in 180 accessories, 160 weapon, and 160-170 rest of gear and be less useful than a full 170 person. The whole ilvl system is bad.

    I dont mind putting some level of grind in before alex to get geared up. My only point is that the spirit of the ilvl restrictions was to keep undergeared people from leaping ahead in content on the backs of geared players (at least thats what I gather with the initial post about it). Sadly, though as a Dragoon wearing Yasha Earring for example, is 35 str 20 chr 29 acc.. and is ilvl 170. My crafted earrings are 31 str 23 det 24 chr and 17 acc, yet only ilvl 150. My reasoning for i165 is still to require left side law, right side can get away with 2 law pieces, and 3 crafted pieces.

    Perhaps the answer can also be that melding adds supplemental amounts to the items ilvl.

    lol, no, the whole point or atleast part of the point is so that people have time to learn how to play their classes properly and give you time to learn mechanics of bosses and such that may or may not be in the alex raid,the alex raid is hardcore and they expect you to do the easier raids to get better, no just no. (thats my opinion I may be wrong on the exact reasons)

    This, so much.

    The ilvl should have different weights for different gear pieces.
    Weapon should weight at least 5, body/legs at least 4, hands/feet/head at least 3, belt 2 and accessories 1.

    The system we have now, weapon weights 2 and everything else weights 1.
    Which is very dumb

    There will always be sucky players but it's a bit disingenuous to say that a player is a better player because of their ilvl. I think the vast majority of us disagree with that. The link I posted was from a SE Poster who stated it was done to ensure the gear was on par. My issue is that if it's gear based, then the ilvl needs to actually be correct, otherwise you need to add some amount of leeway. By requiring i170, they simply added "full law gear" as a baseline, without any consideration to melded crafted items of lower ilvl that are better than law.

    I agree iLV-req has this so mystery issue and now I just feel iLV was designed to restrict new players only.
    For example the WHM may even equip STR accessories to reach the iLV-req if he already has those accessories...

    Why? It's easy to get law tomes the game practically throws it at you.
