Minimal spoilers, please; which pre-HW city and GC best suits DRK?

I'm just kind of curious, for those who've experienced the Dark Knight quests, which City-State and Grand Company do you think best embodies the "vibe" of the Dark Knight?

Only of the original City-States, though. Obviously, I'd start in Ishgard if I could, but sadly, that's just not an option.

I would have to go with the Eternal Flames RP-wise for a few reasons.

1. The wealthy Syndicate of Ul'dah and their Brass Blades often see themselves as being above the law and act like bullies, since their employers have power many of them get away with it. Given the nature of the Drk's mission to punish those that think themselves above the law, that makes the most sense to me as the Flames and the Blades don't always act with unity and fight at various points.

2. Raubahn is the commander of the Flames. A proud and powerful warrior that has an inner darkness all his own that you see him unleash. A Drk could most likely respect, sympathize, and understand having to cope with something of that nature.

3. There are several wealthy folks in general in Ul'dah that have no issue with exploiting the poor and downtrodden and not just the members of the syndicate, you learn in various class missions that there are some criminal organizations working. While a drk won't face them in their class story per se, it once more squares quite well with their mission of punishing others that think themselves beyond the law, while this seems to mostly include those that are in power and abusing it, I could easily see that also applying by extension to any sort of organization that grows too strong and abuses the people.

Ul'dah is a fairly corrupt nation in a lot of places, I feel the Drk's special sort of policing fits in perfectly with their overall lore/theme.

If i can choose i'll give PLD to Limsa,WAR to Gridania and DRK to Ul'dah.
Now for the Reason:
DRK reputation suits the violence and struggle in desert slum.
WAR is basically the beast and Beast suppose to live in the forest/wildlife using their instinct for living.
PLD,well the shining armor looks good among Limsa Building more than the other 2 cities.

I would flip WAR and PLD. Limsa is full of unruly pirates while Grid seems more prim and proper. Besides, WAR job quests are related to this zone. I do agree that Uldah makes the most sense for DRK since we can't choose Ishgard.

Ul'dah, on so many levels. Ul'dah just /screams/ for a dark knight to come in to the picture, Raubahn already sort of is one as far as the fact that he created the flames for reasons very similar to what dark knights are around for.

Out of all three city states Ul'dah is the one that most reflects a dark knights drive: Bring merciless justice to those who think themselves untouchable, protect the weak and impoverished from the currupt and powerful, even if it means fighting the law.. which in Ul'dah are /made by the currupt and powerful to keep themselves that way/

This is perhaps especially true if you play through the paladin storyline before becoming a dark knight, as it is almost "natural character progression" at work

Alright, Immortal Flames it is!

I wonder, though... do you think that should seal the deal for starting as a Gladiator, too? Or do you think Limsa Lominsa as a Marauder? I don't really see my Xaela as being the traditional "good guy" or "knight in shining armor", they seem more brutish in nature. But then, I really don't know that much about Gladiator/Paladin lore, and whether or not they're presented as squeaky-clean "heroes" or not? I've never been crazy about how Pirate-oriented Limsa Lominsa is, but I'd definitely be just an interested to learn about the Warrior's lore.

I feel pretty good about the idea of joining the Immortal Flames. What I wonder, is if I should do so as someone who started out in Ul'dah as a Gladiator, or as someone who first arrived in Eorzea by ship, as a Marauder? Which one do you think fits the Xaela more?



Specifically, what's the "vibe" you get from this guy?

no.. no we dont lol frontlines queue is insanely long as it is without adding another gc to join the queues ._.

I only know a bit of MRD Lore and it's all about managing the beast within to take on bigger and fiercer opponents. The gladiator /paladin story is hardly squeaky clean and in fact deals with once heroes brought down because of the corruption of UlDah who continue to fight it as outcasts.

GC: Honestly none. That's kind of the point of DRKs.
