(new suggestion) jukebox or music player for homes and rooms

if we could have a jukebox for fc houses that allowed us to play what part of the soundtrack we like while crafting or chilling in our homes that would be awesome and away to turn the chocobo music off would be nice thanks to whoever reads this.

There are music boxes available to craft. High level Goldsmithing. Im not sure if they are supposed to play music, but knowing square they probably will.

An actual jukebox has been stated as planned for addition to the game some time in the future however - it's called an 'orchestrion' and both Naoki Yoshida and sound/music director Masayoshi Soken confirmed that the development team are working on it:

Q: Can you add a jukebox-like furnishing that allows us to select the music for our Free Company house?
A: Yoshida: I think this kind of item would be a nice addition. Just the other day I was looking over documents for an item named “Orchestrion.” It said you’ll be able to obtain songs in some way and play them whenever you want. After this is implemented we're planning to add new songs for it with each patch.

Soken: If there's a spec document for a jukebox, then we can add it.

Yoshida: We're aiming to implement the Orchestrion in Patch 3.0 or 3.1.

So have patience! You'll soon be able to choose your own music in your house. (Incidentally for those curious the orchestrion is actually an item from FFXI which did the same thing.)
