My account was compromised sometime after May 1, 2015. SE did a system data restore on June 19, 2015, which unfortunately partially restored my character to a point from over year ago even though I have been continually playing FF14. This has caused a host of game breaking issues. One example is when you complete the Bards first job quest you receive a soul gem, when you equip it, you go from being a Archer (a class) to Bard (a job) which any content after level 30 requires. After the restore, my Archer/Bard is still lvl 50, my quest log shows that I have completed all Bard quests and the Bard NPC that gives the soul gem quest doesn’t show it as available. However I no longer have the soul gem because they restored my character to a point before I had received the crystal and since the quest can’t be repeated I have no way of getting another one. (there is also no way to discard one either) This means that I can no longer become a bard or participate in end game content. This is also true for several other jobs like monk, ninja, etc.
The same problem exists for the beast tribes. Over the last year, I have maxed each one of the breast tribes, but after the data restore my level with each of them is back to 0. The quests that allow you to go up a friendship level, such as from Neutral to Trusted, all show as completed, but since these can’t be repeated either, I can no longer get past the caps.
These aren’t the only progression problems either; I only used these two as examples because they are easier to explain. I am also missing one of my retainers named Bast,(even though SE phone support gave me all four of my retainers name to help me fill out all of the compromised account form), all the veteran rewards I got over the past year, all my end game gear that takes months to acquire, etc… I am sure there are more problems like this in the end game but I can’t access it because my level 90 armor from a year ago is below the ilvl cap.
After the data restore, I called Support Center Team (the ff14 account support guys and later technical support) and they said I needed a ‘character restore to May, 1 2015 the last time I accessed my account). They also said that that they couldn’t help me because they don’t have access to those functions, but that the in-game GM’s could do it. So they directed me to contact them and request a ‘character restore’ to May 1, 2015.
I did that and the GM’s responded that this issue can only handled by the Support Center Team, but it was the Support Center Team is who sent me to the GM’s in the first place. I contacted both a second time and explained my situation again and how their previous information didn't direct me to someone who could resolve this issue. Both repeated that the other should be able to help and were unable to suggest anyone else that I should contact to help me resolves this issue. The only other option I had left was to send an 'in-game' bug report which responded by telling me to make a post on this forum. Hopefully whoever sees this can either perform a character restore or forward this to someone who can, because I don’t have another option to try to get this resolved and the game for me is unplayable because it requires items that weren't restored and that I no longer have a way to obtain.
