Agreed with Darte and AdvancedWind.
And if there's a chocobo we raise ourselves, that can be the quest / minigame.
In-game time, years have passed (which makes events seem crazier since they're celebrated for an entire in-game year.

Yikes, some angry people around here. :/ If it makes you that angry why not try doing something else for a while? To me the mount is just a means of getting around faster for those who have passed a certain point in the game. Why do you think they grouped the announcement together with information about airships? As a new player I know that it takes a fair amount of time to collect a few thousand seals.

This is Final Fantasy, a Chocobo is and has always been more than a Mount. Your supposed to have a relationship with the thing that build over time. That's why they are implimenting all those features.Yikes, some angry people around here. :/ If it makes you that angry why not try doing something else for a while? To simply buy a chocobo makes it A chocobo not YOUR chocobo.
This is a game. If I can exchange a few thousand seals that I earned with time and sweat I would consider the mount mine. Why that makes some people so angry I do not know.

The world of Ivalice, which is somewhat similar to Eorzea, says different. These are still company trained chocobos. Maybe they should've changed the name from personal to Company Chocobo. Either that or think of it as purchasing a pet. You buy a baby animal, and then over time you bond with it and you become inseparable.
Anyway, if you dont want it, just rent chocobos until breeding is in game, then go from there.
Think of it like this:

Work for the company, purchase your insurance that allows you the ability to ride and own a chocobo (and it seems to be more than liability so no worries there), then "bond" with it over time by giving it a name and training it once that feature is implemented.

It's in the lodestone post.Future patches will usher in customizable barding along with a system for developing your chocobo. A host of other content is also in the works, including those designed to nurture the bond between man and bird, and adventurers can look forward to a fulfilling and lasting companionship with their chocobos.

It's as personal as you want to make it. I assure you that Poor Bastard and myself will have quite a close relationship. It's not really a Personal chocobo if you have no personal relationship with it.
You seem a lot more interested in complaining and being negative, than in enjoying what is essentially a fun game. Why not try lightening up a bit, instead of posting over and over again about how much something you've never seen or done sucks?

Mmm was thinking of this but they did say it costs 3000 company seals to get it but what if they had a grand company quest (chocobo related - one time quest) that gave 3000 company seals???
They need a way for gatherer/crafter to get the chocobo's and fighting quests from grand company doesn't seem right so they must of added another way to obtain company seals for non-fighting class, and I can only think of alternate quests which doesn't involve fighting and one could just be chocobo related. Hope it's something like this then it will solve issue where crafter/gatherer without fighting class can get My Chocobo safely + at same time get the quest to get chocobo part solved.
