    No Graveyards?

Forgive me if this has been asked already but I am very new (less than a month played) to the game. I came over from WoW (~10 years played) so I am not new to the MMO genre.

My question is why are there no graveyards in this game? If I die I have to teleport all the way back to Ul'dah from Coerthas and then teleport back, run back to where I was, then continue questing. I know that it adds some danger and consequence to death in the game but it's rather annoying.

Is there any talk of adding graveyards or the ability to resurrect within the area I died?

Also, my apologies if this is not in the right section.

The very first thing you were taught when you started the game was to always syncronize yourself with the aetheryte in the region you are in and possibly set it as your homepoint.
You can do that in every region, so just set Camp Dragonhead's aetheryte as your homepoint and you'll ressurect there instead of Ul'dah

It should also be noted it's not actually true 'death' in this game - when you're defeated in battle (in other words, when your HP reaches zero), your character is actually classed as 'KO' (ala, 'knocked out'), meaning they're actually unconscious instead of being dead. Hence spells like Raise and returning to your home point are essentially analogous to resuscitation.

True death in FFXIV's story is considered to be (in most cases) very much final, baring some exceptions - and that usually is a case of the dead should very much stay dead.

This is typical of the FF series too, where reaching 0 HP is referred to as KO instead of actual death.

As Atoli mentioned, as you move around it's wise to set your Home Point at your nearest aetheryte in case you're KO'd and have to home point, so you don't have to waste as much time travelling back to where you were (you could also try shouting for a raise from a passer by - raising random strangers actually is an achievement in the game so there is incentive to help KO'd players out in the wilds.

There's a graveyard in Eastern Thanalan. Please look forward to it.

In seriousness to your question however.

Each Zone has an Aetheryte associated with it. If you set it as your home point you will return to it upon death.

Then you can do the walk of shame back to where you are questing.

Alright, much thanks for the replies. I was under the impression that once a home point was set it could not be changed. I didn't realize that it was meant to be ever changing. I'll start doing that as opposed to leaving it set in one place.

    Thanks for all the information.

Some other things to note: When you're more sure of your abilities, you may wish to set a homepoint somewhere you wish to travel frequently, such as the nation your grand company is in, or your free company housing, so you can travel there for free (Well every 30 minutes anyway). You may also set up to three favored destinations, where teleports are half cost. Finally, if you have a one-time token (which you should get ANYWAY for account security. TRUST me on this one), you can set a free destination that you can teleport to for free with no time restriction.
