    Thankfully, they are not using FFXI as reference to implement Chocobos. In some FF's, chocobos run away or forcefully throw you off if you keep ramming them against enemies.

    There are plans to enable fighting while mounted. So the mount taking damage is simply another layer of difficulty added to that content when/if implemented.
