Yup, lots of Tier IV pentamelding. Unfortunately on my server people havent started spiritbonding yet so prices are 100-200k per tier IV..

Just a tip on saving you some money. Ilvl55 crafter gear (100) you can convert to materia IV. it's a cheaper way with a higher chance to get it. I converted all the left side and I got 4/6 materias IV . I just done another set and I got 5/6 most of them are cp and craft. :-)

btw, where does one spiritbond now? I tried buying the lvl 55 gear from npc but it wont move past 1% when killing mobs or its terribly slow

Let's just compare previous gearsets to the current situation, our best guess is that the DoH AF gear will come from red scrips, much like the DoW/DoM specific AF sets came from mythology way back in 2.0. It will either follow the paradigm of those sets and the adept set, and not be meldable, in which case you can expect a single piece to be slightly below or equal to a fully melded chimeric felt item (think back to overmelded rose gold and vanya pieces being slightly better or equal to your AF2 gear). The alternative is that they are crafted much like class specific gear was in 2.0, perhaps gated behind a mastercraft 4 book from red scrips, or time gated materials much like sealant was for the forager pieces except once again, bought with red scrips.

In BOTH of these scenarios, you can expect the chimerical overmelded set to last you into a next tier, it would be a complete 180 for square to make the CRFT/CON caps so massive as to require a full set of the new AF gear.

What if we get 2 new sets? red scrips will give new gear for sure, the whole point of scrips was having an alternative to crafting/melding. But from what ive heared we cannot use tier 5 materia on current crafter/gatherer gear, this makes me believe that there will be a new crafted set coming soon. Then it depends on whether the AF gear is crafted or from scrips.

At the moment, there's no need to meld your gear aside from a few CP melds. All of the crafts released so far are dead easy to HQ, including the level 60 1* recipes. You don't need anywhere close to max stats.

However, if grade IV materia is cheap on your server, I'd stock up on them as they'll likely be useful in the future.

And once SE enables V materia besides the rare transmutation from mutamix, ppl will be able to SB the gear and get some yummy V materia that will be for the new crafted gear.
There are like 3 types of gear in this game.
- tome gear
- raid loot gear
- crafted gear
Which ones did SE give materia slots to since 2.0?

I feel like u really want ur investment choice to be the right thing to do. But hey we all get what u mean but what ur doing is pretty much a gamble with losses heavily outweighing the pros.

You should have just kept most of ur materia and just meld some CP etc.

Yoshi has already stated that the intent of the red scrip gear is a slower but equal gear alternative to the kind of overmelding we have grown accustomed to.

My personal speculation is that the red scrip gear will be AF and comparable in power to a well melded set of whatever crafted BiS is (maybe they'll make new crafted pieces, maybe not, probably some but not all).

as stated by others the current bis doesn't allow for grade 5 melds so if new crafted gear is coming come patch then it will most likely allow grade 5 melds.

red scrip gear would be equal to that meld capped gear not current, especially since we cant even cap the gear regardless of whether or not the stats are needed.

as for grade 4 materia its easy to get in the level 55 gear, it has a high rate of conversion and so materia prices will most likely drop as grade 4 becomes what grade 3 currently is.

personally ive melded my gear with one of each craft control and cp grade 4 materia where I would get the max stat gain for minimal cost. <minimal to me since I had a rather large stockpile.

I don't see them adding another mastercraft book so soon but wouldn't put it past them, and I don't think we will see new 2* recipes so quickly either. but af gear is coming one way or another thats for sure. and if you want your crafters to look unique again youll want the body piece at least. which either means we make 8 of current bis and meld to glam for each class or it replaces what we currently have.
