    Glad to know you have had no trouble spending your anima, 'cause I sure as hell have. And I basically live in Ul'dah and it's nearest Camps, which is fortunate because I don't have to go any further and spend even more of those precious points.

    Everything also doesn't revolve around camps, at least not anymore. How are you going to teleport straight to the Hamlets?

    Here's another thing I don't understand. What's all this talk about anima being only for casual players or for casual gameplay? Hardcore players port so much they have mules to do it for them. I don't know a player too Hard core to port.

    All players can and do take advantage of every short cut available. All players can and do bypass shortcuts to explore the game.

    There's nothing to complain about here.

    PS: I'm surprised no one has mentioned spamming "Quick" or "Quickstride" while exploring.

    I wouldn't say it so simply as "Won't matter," but in the grand scheme of things I think it'll matter less. Let's go back to the example of FFXI: Did you care more about the immersion caused by teleporting from the guy at your nation's gate to, say, Quifm Island (basically an aether port anyway) and running to Behemoth, or did you care more about getting to Behemoth's Dominion before those elitist bastards who just want to sell the drops claimed him AGAIN. Idk about you, but after the first few times I went though a process, the immersion was already gone by default, I just wanted to get there, get it done, get the win with my friends, get my drops, and GTFO.

    As for the latter point, I think anima DOES have to be earned as is. How many people do you know who never have any damn anima? You think they're going to get less lazy because Chocobos take 10 minutes less (but still 10 minutes?) They have no anima because they lack that control. That's not going anywhere. They'll still have to earn their right to not have to bum my alt's anima, imo.

    layer servers on top of each other, people who don't have anima and those who do. those without get cookies every month or something for walking and others who don't can see them walking but when u /laugh you get -50dkp.

    As is it now, I pretty much only log on to do local levequests that I can get to within 10 minutes. That means accepting Ul'dah turn ins, and occasionally Black Brush and Horizon. I will never run to Bluefog or Broken Water simply because it takes too much time.

    Anima does not need to be removed or even changed. It serves a purpose for INSTANT transportation. I know plenty of people who have to make mules to teleport themselves to destinations because they literally have zero anima, and you want to remove it?

    Anima is one of the few things in the game that allowed me to continue playing during the game's ultra-disappointing performances earlier on. Even with chocobos and airships, anima is still very welcome in my book.

    Finally, anima doesn't take you to your destination. It takes you to a place close by. You're still going to have to walk and/or ride a chocobo a fairly decent distance to get to your destination. Look at the walk to Darkhold. Without anima I don't think I'd want to even ride a chocobo from Ul'dah to the entrance. Anima does a lot more than simply getting you to your destination quickly. Imagine trying to get replacements for a party without anima.

    Stop being XI time-sink masochists and look at the bigger and BETTER picture.

    Anima has it's place in the game, and I understand the need for it's existance.

    What needs to be done though is the reliance on Anima as the defacto way to move around the world. Casual players need it to move around in the short ammount of time they have, but that also makes travel itself pointless for everyone when it's so easy to use and has no repurcussions.

    I propose a few solutions they don't have to all be implemented but a combination of the ideas could work as well..

    • Less Anima
    • Slower regen
    • Don't generate anima while playing (Gives casual players more anima so the system can't be abused by players who don't really need it)
    • Don't allow ports to be accepted by people who have not attuned to a crystal yet
    I'm sure there are tons of other things that could be done to the Anima system as it is, but as it stands it is here to stay. I'd rather not have it but I see the reason it exists, it just sucks that it invalidates every other form of travel that isn't Anima warping.

    With new modes of transit (One of them being a teleport of it's own...airships) the need to "Save time" using anima is dwindling allowing the developers to make content that doesn't have to be instantanious and include the "Journy" into the content itself.

    i run alot in this game, way more then i should. chocobos and airships will be great. i will like having my anima reserved for when i need it most.
