Peculiar problem with FFXIV

Hello.

I have an issue that is rather strange, and has only occurred ever since the latest patch (June 29th@11:00pm-June 30th@3:00am).

Upon booting the game, I tried to Start the game(of course.). Unable to reach the character selection screen, I get the 2002 error code.

When I close the window, the game crashes and is unable to be closed out by any means(right click, close window. Task Manager. Nothing.) The only way I am able to close the game out is to shut down the computer.

I've tried this in both DX11 support and without, and in both cases the game freezes.
This has never happened to me before the latest update... And I'm wondering if other Windows players are experiencing this.

Looks like I'm not the only one, then. I have been experiencing this same problem, too. I have also tried closing the program out with Task Manager, but the black screen with the 2002 error obscures everything. The game was working fine on Sunday for me, which was the last time I played.

Also something to note, my buddy uses a PS4 and does not have this issue.
So I guess this is not an issue for PS4 and possibly PS3 players.

I haven't been able to play this game all day because of this 2002 error.
I hope I can get online tomorrow at least.
Or sometime soon.

PS4 user, I had 2002 errors but only on HW launch day.

Hey Cyclone, what display option are you using? (Fullscreen, windowed, borderless windowed) If you're using fullscreen, give windowed a try. This won't fix the 2002 error of course but it could avoid you needing to restart your computer due to it.

I used both Window and Borderless Windowed.
I haven't given Fullscreen a try.

As it stands, trying to connect to the Data Center in any way(starting the game or selecting regions) causes the 2002 error and the game will crash.

Oh, and some good news! I can close the game out now. I just have to use Task Manager before closing the 2002 error code box.
... Although being unable to play is still an issue.

EDIT: Attempting to close out the game(after closing Error 2002 box) with Task Manager or any other method with Fullscreen on ended in failure.

Day 2 with this problem.
I'm still unable to play this game because of constant 2002 errors and freezing.

Since latest patch I have not been able to get into the game. Waited over two hours yesterday to talk to someone on technical support, they said it is a lobby issue, just keep trying..

Here is what is happening:
Connect to data center, (see the wheel at the bottom right of page spinning)longer then usual time.
Then I get black screen with this message:
Lobby server connection has encountered an error. Click little box that say ok, it closes everything down.

Rebooted computer, nothing changes.
Rebooted modem, nothing happens.
Rebooted both at same time, nothing happens.

Day 2 and still cant log into the game!!
Getting extremely frustrated that Support does not see this as a real problem for people.

How many days until we see a fix??????????

Yes, I have.
Both dx9 and dx11 have the same strange game crash effect.

This constant 2002 error is getting rather annoying.
