Best and worst new NPC in Heavensward [SPOILERS]

This may be premature as not everyone is done with the Main Scenario but I fealt we should discuss all the awesome new people we got to meet in Ishgard and those who fealt underhwelming or irritating.

While I really liked Hilda, and
    Archbishop Thordan
turned out to be a fantastic main villain, the clear victor is Matoya. She has a wisdom rivaling Louisoux, a lot of depth for a reclusive witch, and the best dialogues SE has ever written. I fell off my chair laughing when she called Alphinaud, Louisouix's grandddaughter.

As for the worst: That's a tough one. Mogleo and Gunu Vanu really deserve a stab in the neck for their annoyingness. We saw way too little of Emperor Varis, but he was savvy enough to not attack us directly and instead attack with a dreadnaught, so he gets a few points.
Regula van Hydrus is not so lucky. Compared to Gaius and Nael he is just weak.
As a character I mean. No theme of his own, no recognisable weapon, his fights are boring. Of course if he is atand in for Kefka it might explain why he is all talking and running at this point of a story. Still, I found him boring. He has a cool armor but otherwise boooooring.

Who were the best and worst for everyone else?

Agree with Matoya. Hilda could've been cooler but I think she just didn't have enough screen time. I'm sure we'll see more of her in the future though. Also Fray from the DRK questline. It's a pretty interesting chain.

Gunu Vanu was incredibly annoying, I can't believe my character felt compelled to help with his blatantly stupid endeavors. To be fair to the Moogles, all the sidequests are more streamlined and a continuous narrative now - it's easy to point the finger at them because it's all coming from the same source, whereas in 2.X they were equally as dull / annoying just from different sources.

Best: I don't really know, I'm just gonna skip.

Worst: That "hunter" Mi'qote in Forelands was one who really tried to make my blood boil.

Clearly, the best Final Fantasy character is Locke Cole.

The side quests in Matoya's Cave offer some fantastic depth to Matoya's character. If anyone hasn't done them I would highly recommend it (they're easy to miss since the cave isn't shown on the regular map).

Ysayle was actually one of my favourite characters due to her not being a black-and-white good or bad person; same goes for Estinien though his arrogance made him a little frustrating.

My least favourite would probably be the new Imperial Legatus but since we didn't actually kill him I'm assuming he'll be getting fleshed out a little more. He and the Garleans are clearly intending to harness the power of the Warring Triad themselves so we'll no doubt be facing off with them again on Azys Lla in the future.

I actually kinda liked Regula since he at least acknowledges your feats.

Yes, Hilda didn't get enough screen time, but she look very cool (a biker chick with a gun) and she has an interesting and well written backstory.
The problem with the moogles was the terrible quest tracker. Playing hide and seek with tools, flowers, bags and moogles is not a fun way to spend your time to unlock the next level gate on the story.

Me too. I originally intended to simply make an appreciation thread to her.

More or less exactly what I think. I didn't include Ysayle and Estinien as they weren't exactly new, but I really enjoyed my time with them. Far more than fetching laundry for Minfilia and the rest of the Scions.
And I did the moon questline. I'll admit I cried when I got to the part when you have to name what is dearest to her heart.

    Aymeric? he's the Knight Commander.

Yes, Estinien payed for his arrogance. To be fair everyone warned him repeatedly, so it didn't come as a surprise.

Best: Definitely agree with Matoya, who is not only a great reference to the first Final Fantasy, but was a character that you don't even expect coming and she ends up being awesome. But I also have to give big props to Haurchefant, even though he's not a new addition. His trust and loyalty towards the Warrior of Light makes the journey to Ishgard go smoothly, and he was just about the only character from the outset that didn't seem like he was gonna stab you in the back at some point.

Worst: That one Vanu-Vanu that makes you kill Imperials three times. Seriously, to hell with that bastard.
