It's large enough to be known in other parts of the server, I can tell you that Tepe.
I'm still going to call you "tep-pay" btw.

yeah. it is, and i agree with you. I don't RP myself, but it's absence on cactuar is pretty noticeable. Sure there are people that RP on my server, but i rarely run into a group doing so.The problem with this is it's absolutely ludicrous to be forced into this situation and does not help the underlying issue. It's simple misfortune that has Balmung and Gilgamesh as over-populated as they are. Adding to that population just makes the problem worse.
The simple fact is, the RP community needs an expanded home. The ones they have now are fast becoming locked and gated communities rather than the open communities roleplayers tend to foster.
it really isn't, however an option is an option. Regardless of how bad it is.

I wish there were more RPers on my server too. I'm an avid fan of RP but sadly, I've been playing on Behemoth since launch, bought a house and raid weekly. I can no longer move to another server!![]()
This, and other problems, could be solved rather handily by squeenix offering free transfers off of overpopulated servers. God knows my company would probably jump at the opportunity.
Would it really solve the problems of Balmung and Gilgamesh being bloated though? Sure some folks would leave, but the server would just bloat back up with the mass of roleplayers who want in, leaving still a lot of them out.
It's actually pronounced "Tape" apparently. Tee-pee. Teh-pah.
I agree. There's already some underpopulated servers and labeling them as the official RP server should help, especially if they do a free transfer. This is why I made a thread requesting they officially label the servers for different interests (PvE, PVP, RP, etc.). Maybe I should go find bump that. I assumed the HW topics were more important so I didn't track it.
But either way, this problem doesn't concern just RP fans. I get the feeling raid groups and other player interests would have a much easier time actually finding people to do those things with if they had a very clear indication of what servers were available. And Balmung and Gilga can't hold the load of everyone from every interest forever.
I would caution against them picking anything but Blamung as the official RP server for NA, simply because even if they select another server, Balmungites will stay on Balmung. Multiple trillions of gil have been invested in housing districts of RP friendly and RP-centric housing, including groups that have multiple houses in territories for Rp purposes. You're not going to get RPers to just give that up regardless of what your opinion is of the practice.
The problem is, RP already attempted to expand, to Gilgamesh. They seem to be doing alright there as well, so even designating a single server can cause some major problems - as you're forcing those people to uproot. It's a catch 22.
Keep in mind, one payment applies to a single transfer of all characters, whether or not you use them. So a person with alts can move them all at once if they wanted to - but they only get to pay for that once chance. That's how it works.
I'm in 2 RP groups in the Primal Data Center (Brynhildr and Lamia) they aren't as plentiful or as extensive, but they exist. Check out http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/ it's mainly Balmung but other servers advertise there too.

Uh.. You sure about that? I paid for a character transfer (18 dollars) and it was "Select this one character, to move to a different server" and I didn't get to transfer any other ones without spending any more money I'm fairly sure.
Oh yeah, forgot about Teep too. That's how Tepe pronounces it, but she's a dingdong anyways. Teh-pah is the best one!
