Machinist Help

I just started leveling up my MCH from playing a bard. Can i get any tips? the reload system is odd. also what food/ stats should i be going for?

at mch current state if you are not good do not even bother. its basically the monk version of bard without the good dps from monk or anything.

I'm already leveling smn/sch since my mch is ilvl 179 just missing ravana ex weapon but till you hear a word from Square about fixing them I'd advice against continuing with mch.

not to say i hate the class i enjoy how it plays minus gauss cast times(please give back auto attack and remove cast on attacks) but it needs a serious buff both mch and brd. every other class seems to do fine thou outside minor problems AST and DRK have.

just to let you know how bad it is SCH/WHM/WAR/DRK in full dps can out dps both BRD/MCH

Bad bards maybe? I highly doubt a SCH can out dps a BRD.

As a soon to be 58 MCH I use that guide that is on this page and helped a lot, but it needs a buff.

Really that bad huh? I love my ranged dps, might have to work on my rogue though. i'll level MCH up a bit first and see how it is.

I recommend anything other than Machinist at present.

They are as difficult as monk with no benefits and are actually weaker than Bards. Think of 100% effort just to keep up with Bards, who are also on the lowest end of the DPS scale.

Until we have confirmed SIGNIFICANT buffs do NOT touch machinist. This is my strong and heartfelt feeling, it was a complete disappointment for me to have leveled it.

To be such an advanced class with so many extremely tedious mechanics and have no benefit is a bit disturbing. Machinist needs a lot of buffs before it becomes competitive with even Bard.

First off, we should NOT be telling anyone to simply not be a Machinist.

Yes, I understand that low numbers of players playing that job would make a statement, but the inverse is true as well. If there are many people playing it, then not only will the knowledge and experience pool grow, but that as well will speak in volumes. An unplayed class/job simply says there's a lack of interest; but numbers of players who can show and prove that the class/job is in need of improvement would make for a better statement.

Go in with the understanding that you will NEVER be top DPS in a proper party because you have tradeoffs to make for being ranged and for being able to extend the DPS of your party.

Also you can use Rapid Fire to more quickly switch into Gauss Barrel.
