Why are Coerthan Tea Leaves on a timer for gathering?

Coerthan Tea Leaves are used to start crafting at 51 for Leatherworkers.
None of the other "starter" materials are gated for the other DoHs.

This means Leatherworkers must needs spend more time or gil than other classes just to start the level grind.

i'm wondering the same, not enough to make us kill monster for get skin randomly, we need now to wait every hours for get around 15-18 leaves.... it's idiot especially when you notice that no other craft of equipement have this sort of thing.

Unspoiled nodes now spawn every 12 ET hours, so that's 35 minutes Earth time. Ungeared players will have trouble gathering it efficiently, but veteran players with melded Lv 50 gear will have no trouble gathering the leaves.

As to other crafts, the second tier of all of CRP, BSM, ARM, and WVR need Holy Water, which is an ALC recipe that uses materials gathered from unspoiled nodes. CUL also depends on unspoiled node stuff. GSM is probably the only profession getting the easy way out.

Yes and no?
The moment you hit anything needing Holy Water - which is everything 52 - you'll be gated behind a recipe for Alchemist that's gated behind them.

There's some really weird gating in general though for new crafts. I can think of some recipies that require the services of vastly higher levelled fishers than the crafters that will use them (Mogpoms)

Which is why I'm leveling my gatherer's first, as well as having a pair of gathering retainers. i got almost 300 of the initial hides for Ltw just while leveling my retainer to 53.

But yea the crafts in 3.0 all seem to be gated by alch or time nodes after 52.

Also why is cedar wand repaired by carp if its made by alch......

true, but alchemists also have glue, you don't HAVE to do holy water. there's void, wing, and scale glue all nice spaced out in level and cheap to make.

leather pretty much gets shafted until you can do the dragon/amphithere.

Can retainers get them? My bot retainer isn't there yet so I'm not sure. But the leather will be available in bulk when people start getting their retainers there.

@cearka They added that along with a couple of the other botanist gatherables during one of the hotfixes.
