So there is this level 51 side quest in Coerthas Western Highlands that requires me to rescue a kitten from the roof. But how do I get up there? I can't find any way to climb. Or is there no way without unlocking flying?

Need to unlock flight first.
this crap pisses me off something fierce. like really, why even let us accept the quest so early on? it is downright impossible to fly at the time they allow you to accept this quest. my initial reaction was that it isn't possible to do this without flying unlocked on that map, but still gave it a good 30+ minutes trying to figure it out. the least they could do is lock the quest until you can fly... why even put it as a lv51 quest to start with? grr :/

I unlocked flight at level 51, maybe 52.. all that I know is that when I accepted the quest (on my main), I was able to fly up and get the cat.
It's not like that quest is part of a big chain or even hard to do really.

Clearly, the best Final Fantasy character is Locke Cole.
Glamour is TRUE ENDGAME
i think the problem is that the game doesn't explicitly tell you that you NEED flying. so people try to do it before they can fly and get frustrated.
they make the same problem with the in-game map. you can't tell what you can get to and what you can't, and finding things becomes "i don't know if i'm supposed to be able to and don't know how, of if i'm not supposed to be able to." it's very annoying.
I think this quest is an exception intended to motivate you to actually aim to get flying unlocked...
This is the first thing I thought too. And it worked. It's only available like one level earlier than the earliest possible flight opportunity.
It may be annoying to some people, but then they didn't know what life was like before floating quest markers and internet guides were the norm.
flying quests start at the lowest level you can unlock flying. for western coerthas it is 51.
Drink moar red bull.
