    EVE style character creation

Eve character creator link - youtube

I know this was unveiled after FF14 came out, but having played eve personally and mucked around with it's character creator, I think it's really great. I understand that SE has their plate full right now but in terms of what your PC looks like, the EVE system has a ton of flexibility that frankly is lacking in FF14. So I'd like to see some sort of system like this implemented when possible as it'd really allow us to have individual characters.

ps3 may not be able to handle that. But I'm all for it. As long as its tasteful. I liked Aions character creator. Kinda could make your own race with it. And loved making chibi and "doll" characters. I would love a lalafell sized miqo'te. I love playing tiny character even more so if they are cats. I love being cute :3 I lil miqo'te with the cute piggy tails of the only blonde mithra hair style or even using the lalafell one. I'd be in heaven.

The PS3 should be able to handle it in some form if programmed right. However PS3 are tough to program for and not many people do it right. However, SE made other tradeoffs in the PS3 version before it was put on hiatus so a scaled down version for the PS3 would be a possibility. Frankly I this point I think SE should just drop any thoughts of porting to the PS3 for now.

That said, the eve CC is one of the best ones I've seen. The AoC one is similar to it, but you can't get as much realism out of it.

Holy Smokes, that is a lot of freedom for a character creator!

Honestly, as cool as that was, I think it is too much. A lot of people, when making a character, simply know what they like when they see it, instead of having every idea pinned into their mind like stone. At least in my opinion.

With the exception of maybe a few more hairstyles, tattoos, and body builds, I think FF-XIV shows us just enough options to give us what were looking for, while doing all the hard work for us.

cool videos though! I've never played that game, thanks for the linkage

I am all for more character choices but your forgetting one thing, that being; that you would have to start over to take advantage of them. Though I guess some people wouldn't necessarily have a problem with this. Then again they can always add a service like WoW, where you can pay to have your character re-customized.

@PEnt: there wouldn't be any need to start over. EVE players didn't need to start over when the new character creator was introduced (and EVE is not the first game that had players modify their appearence on the run, so whenever new customization options appear, SE can simply allow the player to get some nice "plastic surgery").

Mind you. While I would love this, I simply don't think it's possible. the EVE team spent the better part of two-three years and a LOT of development resources to get that result, because their game has a much simpler environment that FFXIV, and doesn't need as much work in other areas.
I seriously doubt SE can adffor dedicating that many resources and that much time to a single feature like that. Adding new options to customization is plenty for the purpose.

Also, I seriously doubt that the PS3 would handle it. Memory limitations is the reason.

Better to hold it than to release it when the game is still in an unfinished condition.

The PS3 release is their big commercial chance to put the game back on it's feet commercially (alongside, in a lesser fashion, an heavily publicized and discounted launch on Steam), would you prefer them to burn it with a premature launch?
