The Icepick Challenge....

Challenge indeed, having a heck of time catching hq Icepicks for this class quest. Am using Caddisfly larva and been trying in both South Banepool and the unfrozen pond.

I says right on the quest to fish in the unfrozen pond. Patience plus the Powerful hookset doesn't seem to be helping either as I'm getting fish gets away

Just keep trying?

Better gathering and perception helps, and use Stonefly Nymphs for baits- the Paitenceand powerful hookset does help a bit by the way-

I got from 0 exp into 53 to almost 54 fishing up all 3 HQ Icepicks. It takes time, a lot of it. It prepares you mentally for the next fisher quest, and that took me 1½ levels to do!

Oh? I rarely got smelts. Mainly Ice Faeries with occasional mooched Ammonites, Seema Patricians and Lake Urchins. Too bad I didn't really pay attention to which bait I was using, Caddisfly Larva or Stonefly Nymph, but I am assuming the latter.

Icepicks are great if you're getting extras for collectables turn-ins.

This is off-topic, I never saw Ammonites, seema patricians or lake urchins just yet, are you sure you mean the unfrozen pond or another fishing location?

In the Journal the quest says; "The fish can be found in an unfrozen pond in the Gorgagne Holding, to the north of Falcon's Nest." (note the unfrozen pond isn't a name, but a described location.) The area on the map for it was South Banepool. I have that spot completed with Alabathian Smelt, Icepick, Ice Faerie, Lake Urchin, Ammonite and Seema Patrician.

There is actually an "Unfrozen Pond" which is not the same, so far it has Abalathian Smelt, Icepick, Ice Faerie, Sorceror Fish and Albino Octopus.

Thanks! I haven't explored that area much yet so I have only 4 found fishing locations where 5th needed higher level for Gulleye.

what does powerful hookset do, when is it utilized, it does not work for me. It is greyed out and completely useless at the moment ;x
